Birthday Bonanza!

I don't know about you, but I just LOVE birthdays! I enjoy giving, as much, if not more, than receiving, handmade birthday cards and gifts. Especially when the recipient "gets it"...you know what I mean...a fellow addict crafter who understands the effort and love that goes into each and every handmade item.

But don't get me wrong...receiving is GREAT, too!

I've been organizing the Birthday Club Swap for Club Scrap now for months now. There's nothing better than receiving not one, not two, but DOZENS of handmade cards by fellow, ultra-talented, members of the Club Scrap Community.

My birthday was last Friday, so I thought it would be fun to share my "haul" with you. I received so many wonderful cards: some funny, some with elaborate designs, some simple and elegant, but all of them handmade with love by my CS friends!

My birthday bonanza!
There's always room for more members in this Birthday Club, so why not join in on our swap? You'll have an appreciative audience for your beautiful handmade cards, as well as receive a big bundle of love during YOUR birthday month! C'mon over and check out the swap details (we're always listed as the Birthday Club Swap)...you'll be so glad you did!

And what's a birthday discussion without PRESENTS?!?! I'm giving away a bit of blog candy today...so be sure to leave me a comment answering this question: What was one of the best presents you've ever gotten? Leave your comment on this post in the next 24 hours (until noon, Central Time, Tuesday, July 10) for your chance at some awesome Club Scrap Swag! (Winner will be chosen at random from the list of those who left comments in the allotted time.)

  1. Karen,
So neat to see your birthday cards. I have to wait until the 24th, but opening my Pizza box and seeing so many was so exciting. I am so glad to be a part of the Birthday Club too!

  4. Ah wow this is a tough one but probably the LeCruset pot I got for Christmas this year, or maybe my Keurig...

My birthday is this month though and what I really want is a giant metal chicken for the yard...

  6. Great question! I would have to say the Kenmore sewing machine my parents gave me when I was 18! It was a very good friend for 40 years before it had to be replaced. It gave me so much pleasure for all that time.

Happy Birthday Karen! Hope it was a good one.

My best birthday present was a opal ring that my husband had made for me when I turned 21. He helped design it and picked the most rare opal to go with it. I was lucky then and 20+ years later, I'm still really lucky...not because of the ring, but because of the man who gave me the ring. :)

  11. Probably a puppy when I was five - although I was mad at the time because he was a "family" dog, he was truly a blessing for my latch-key, only child life. A great protector too!! Happy Birthday Karen!!

  12. Coolest birthday gift I got as a child was my Fashion Queen Barbie - she came with wigs so you could change her hair at will. I loved her so much, especially her gold and white lame' striped bathing suit!

As a grown-up, I've come to appreciate that my croppin' pals at Scrapping For Soldiers always schedule a crop over my birthday weekend. A complete cooincidence, of course, but I prefer to think of it as my own special day!

  13. My favorite birthday gift was a Bichon Frise puppy a couple years ago. She's my fourth daughter--though my only furry one!

Happy Birthday to all those celebrating in July!!

  15. I always consider my son as my best birthday present ever. He was born almost 9 months to the day from my birthday! I almost lost him to leukemia a year later. But I firmly believe his sunny disposition helped beat the cancer. Now at 30 years old, he is a still a wonderful young man full of smiles. Jean

  16. I think the best birthday present recently was the ultrasound the week of my birthday that showed my baby was healthy and older than when we'd lost the previous three pregnancies. Our Samantha was born 6 months later.

  17. Well I have to say the best birthday present I ever got was in 2008 when my Mother and Father in Law bought me a 3 month membership to my very first kit of the month scrapbooking club, CLUB SCRAP! I am so thankful for that gift as it has brought me so much joy and thousands of scrapbooked memories! Not to mention so many friends! I am blessed. :)

  18. My best birthday present when I was a kid...I think would have been my first camera. A Kodak 110. I took that camera on it's first outing to Niagara Falls with my girl Scout troop.

When I turned 50 was another great memory. Friends and family did a wonderful job of marking that milestone.

    Thanks for the memories,
    Pat

  19. One of my favorite recent presents was a Color Nook - I was able to put Club Scrap PDF instruction available on it and got rid of MANY binders of paper, meaning more storage room for supplies! Woot!

  20. My best birthday present was bringing my Dad home on my birthday to be at home for his last hours surrounded by all eight of his children and all ten of his grandchildren. It does not get more precious than that!

  21. It wasn't exactly a birthday present, but one the nicest things my dh has ever done is transform our office into a wonderful craft space! New paint, peg boards, shelving etc.

  22. Without a doubt, the best gift ever received was Claire, my DGD!

  23. Te best birthday presents I received were from my four young daughters one year. My husband took them to a local Pamida and let them pick out whatever they wanted for my gifts. Needless to say, some very interesting gifts, including a toothbrush holder, huge colorful vase, a rug and a bowl. Then they went to the local grocery store and picked out a cake and had them personalize it. That was so many years ago, but one of the best! :)

  24. I was an infertility patient - I wanted a baby so badly!! In 1994 with the help of a wonderful medical team, the miracle of IVF and the grace of God I became pregnant. The baby was due on December 4, my father's birthday, but he kept telling me that he thought the baby would arrive closer to my birthday than his. I was born on Sunday, November 13 in 1960. And on Sunday, November 13, 1994 my water broke - I missed my birthday dinner to head to the hospital. Although the delivery didn't happen until the next day, I will always consider my daughter the greatest gift I will ever receive.
