Wisteria Blooms!

July 1st is quickly approaching and the Wisteria Club Scrap Kit will be shipping on Monday! You don't have to wait long!

Tricia's fun post on Tues was showing off the great quotes included with the Wisteria unmounted stamps. Luckily, I've also gotten the chance to create a few projects for the Scrap Rap. I'm pretty sure this sneak peek doesn't let the cat out of the bag any more than the one previously shared, so I'm in the clear!

I'm really enjoying the beautiful Wisteria papers, rubber stamps and goodies! I hope you will JOIN us if you have't already so that you can enjoy this bloomin' kit!

Thanks for stopping by,
Kay at Club Scrap

It's time for the Hopes Blog Hop!

This is the moment I've been waiting for all month--blog hop time! This has quickly become my favorite time of the month because of all of the incredible ideas and inspiration we share.

The June Hopes collection is just so bright and cheerful, and I wanted to make something fun to really show that off. I've always loved mini albums. Inspired by the mini books CS has designed in the past, I created this CD Mailer Booklet. (Mine is just a bit different, so I've added the instructions at the end of this post.)

CD Booklet Closed
CD Booklet Open
This quick little project is perfect for those occasions where a card isn't quite enough, but a full-fledged album might be too much. And, if you DO want to enhance your gift monetarily, it's a great way to present a gift card!

So, shall we check out what our other bloggers have on the docket today? Here's a list of all of our participating blogs:

***This drawing is now closed.***
Congratulations to our random winner, Karen Propes!
Karen will receive a 10-pack of the CD Literature Folders. Enjoy!

CD Mailer Booklet
Supplies:
  • CD folder/mailer (mine measures 5x5")
  • (3) 4.75 x 9.5" papers
  • (4) 4.75 x 4.75" papers
  • Waxed Linen Thread/Bookbinding Needle
  • (10) 1-inch circles (cut from cardstock using a circle punch)
  • Additional embellishments, stamped sentiments, glitter glue
Instructions:
  1. Score and fold each 4.75x9.5" paper in half.
  2. Use a grid ruler and a piercing tool to create stitching holes along the inside fold, one inch from the top and bottom of a single page.
  3. Use the pierced page as a template to transfer stitching holes to the other two pages.
  4. Transfer pierced stitching holes to the CD folder by centering the inside page vertically along the spine, leaving equal distance from top and bottom edges.
  5. Nest three inside pages. Use waxed linen thread and a needle to attach the inside pages to the spine with a simple pamphlet stitch.
  6. Attach 4.75" squares to the front and back outside and inside covers. (I slid the inside back cover down into the pocket). Create a cover for the outside of the pocket as well, if desired.
  7. To create tabs, attach the punched circles, front to back, sandwiching the cardstock edge between them. Evenly space the circles along the edge of each page.
  8. Add additional embellishments as desired.

Wisteria Spoiler

You're here because I said "Spoiler," right? Thought so.

Or was it because I said, "Wisteria?"

Either way, I'm glad you're here. I'm glad about how this kit is turning out. Like, really, really, really glad.

Wanna see?

I've got a few samples of some of the cards I made this past weekend. I played with watercolor crayons and inks. I also tried to incorporate a few things from my stash at home. If I fail in this endeavor, I will no longer be able to fit my body into my craft room. Can you relate?

From the Unmounted Borders & Backgrounds sheet.

Quote, numbers and images from the Unmounted FontArt sheet.

All images from the UM Art Nouveau plate.

Part of the CS Collection 6.5x8.5" Unmounted Sheet.

Don't miss the boat on this bloomin' collection! Join us today! And if you're not getting every at least one sheet of rubber, you might want to. Just saying.

Spoilingly Yours,
Tricia

ALSB Shortcuts...

. . . are one great way to make your precious Club Scrap papers go further for you.

I know I have my own ways to stretch my monthly kits, and here are just a few of them. (Not a monthly member yet? Click HERE to sign up!)

I love the ALSB instructions that are provided so generously by Club Scrap every month. Who wouldn't love someone taking all the guess work out of what to do with all those wonderful papers and supplies we receive!

I thought it would helpful for you to see the instructions and layout style I was working with today.  This is layout 11 & 12 from the Spring Chorus Collection:

I am a Club Scrap kit member, which ships on the 1st of the month, and this kit has it all.

Many of the layouts incorporate 8.5x11 papers in conjunction with the 12x12 base pages. They act as anchors for the pages.

To salvage the base paper underneath the 8.5x11 paper, I begin by flipping over the 12 x 12 sheet and tracing the 8.5 x 11 paper (upside so not to get any pencil on that paper) onto it.

Using my rotary trimmer (a craft knife and self healing mat would be perfect for this cutting procedure too), I cut 1/2 inch inside the traced image of the paper. This gives the 8.5x11 sheet a place to be attached onto the base paper.

Then I flipped over the base paper, added ATG adhesive to the back of my 8.5x11 sheet and attached to my base page.  *Special note: I also stick clear tape to the back side of my layout just to ensure the pieces stay together correctly and to keep them from hooking onto my page protectors as I am sliding in my finished pages.

The right side of this layout used another trick. Typically the instructions direct us to lay the white print over top of the blue base paper. I didn't want to hide (lose) the paper under the long white print piece.  I made marks on the back of the paper to show where the white print would lie on the base paper.

I trimmed the small section out of the large base paper.

I positioned the paper on my Tonic trimmer so they are all lined up with the 12x12 mark, I ran ATG  tape on the base paper pieces and then adhered the 7x12 white print paper on top. Having the papers on the trimmer keeps all of them lined up and squared at 12 x 12 inches.

I used the extra blue paper I saved from this layout to create some of the flowers and mini album mattes from my Spring Chorus Blog Hop project. If you missed it you can see it HERE.

Here are the bases just waiting for completion. :)

I really hope you found these paper-saving shortcuts helpful.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Musical Hope Chest

Friday Greetings from Kay here at Club Scrap!

Yesterday was Hopes Club Stamp shipping day, so those of you receiving the Club Stamp Project will have it soon! So let's talk about the project, if you don't mind. It's a handmade box that opens like a mini Hope Chest should. I don't think I've done a box lid like this before, so it's a slightly different construction than past box projects and easy to put together! I love that! However, the really fun part of it all is that it's a Musical Hope Chest.

Here I am winding the music box mechanism now.
And opening the Musical Hope Chest.

Tricia installed the music box while we did step-out
photos for the step by step instructions.

Inside the box, there is room for a 3-1/2" square mini album or card.

Check out the cool hardware included in the kit!
There will also be paperless kit available, too. I love that option. I made this one below with the Spring Chorus Club Stamp text weight printed paper and painted the provided hardware with white acrylic paint for a different look.

Another fun project to make for yourself or as a that perfect gift. Hope you enjoy it as much as did!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Kay

Look What Kay & Jac Have Been Doing!

We all know that Kay Williamson and Jacqueline Carney are super-talented ladies - you just have to look at the monthly kits and projects, right? Well, my friends, they are both featured in this month’s issue of Scrapbooking.com’s online Magazine!

Kay's Mini Album

Kay’s Bead Embellished Family Mini Album is a really cool 6x6 stitched book. You can see photos and step-by-step instructions (and even a video) HERE.

Jac's Digital Layout

Jac’s article shows a neat digital layout entitled “I Got You, Babe” featuring the Get the Picture Digital Collection. Full instructions are also available for the layout. Check it out HERE.

You’ll notice that there are also ‘YouTube Video’ icons in each of their articles - Scrapbooking.com has actually created brief videos showing the various photos while one of the Scrapbooking.com staff narrates the story.

I encourage you to take a moment and visit both of the links above and get a little CS inspiration. I don’t know about you, but I love seeing Club Scrap products highlighted on other sites!!

And don’t forget that the Club Stamp Hopes Kit ships today! If you haven’t ordered one yet, head to GHM! and get one before they’re all gone! (Mine should be at my door next week!)

See you next week!

-Ron

Join us for Summer Camp!

Okay, so in most parts of the country, school is out for summer vacation. Parents are sending their kids to summer school, summer camp or other organized activities to keep them entertained and their brains stimulated.

So why not do the same for yourself? Grown-ups deserve a treat, too, and let's face it, our creative muscles could use a little stretching. Am I right?

This is where Club Scrap's Pro Scrapbooker's League Summer Camp comes in (or as we say, PSL Summer Camp, because otherwise it's a mouthful, I tell ya). Summer Camp is four weeks of fun designed to stretch your creative muscles, stimulate your mojo, make new and visit with old crafting friends, and inspire you to get a whole lot done. Sounds like a good time, doesn't it?

To be a part of the fun, get signed up next week...registration starts Monday, June 24. Sign up for a cabin based on your interest(s): scrapbooking, cardmaking, digital, or (new this year!) papercrafting projects. After registration, you'll be treated to four weeks of challenges that will inspire you to squeeze in as much creativity as you can each week. Oh, and did I mention the prizes? Each cabin category will have a bit of friendly competition with the others to see which cabin can get the most points. Get your crafting on AND get rewarded for it? Now that's what I call a great summer!

If you're still not fully convinced, go to this page for more information, as well as testimonials from past Summer Camp participants. Or, stop by this page to get to know the Camp Counselors. What have you got to lose?

I hope to see you at Camp. The last one to the campfire is a rotten egg!

Creatively yours,
Karen

Hopespiration Rubber Stamped Card

I always hesitate to visit Pinterest. I'm sure you know why. It sucks you in like a hook-up on a central vacuum system. I gave myself a five-minute time limit to find an idea to inspire a card. This is what happened . . .

Inspiration arrived:

I really liked the balance of this card, the white space, the lines with the dotties and dimension, and the simple greeting. I found this image within 30 seconds of arriving in the time warp. Here's my version:

So . . . off to my drawer of Hopes supplies where I found some scraps. A few trims, and here we are:

I decided to re-create the lines 1/8" apart with a marker and grid ruler.

But I needed a small round stamp to make the dots. I supposed I could have just added some dots by drawing small circles. Hindsight. Anyway . . . I punched two circles of UM rubber from an image that had already been treated with Mount-It Adhesive. The Cropadile worked like a charm, and I punched from an area that did not contain the actual image. See the little circle on my acrylic block?

I brushed color onto the "stamp" with the Stamper's Big Brush Pens from the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft line. Those neutral tones are da bomb.

Next, I colored one of the flowers from the Hopes UM Collection image with the same markers and stamped it onto the panel along with that sweet little "thanks" from the UM Greeting sheet.

In my effort to use stuff I have, I added the sweet gold ribbon from the Hopes Fiber selection and the little gold sticky ball thingies pilfered from my sweet mom's stash.

Wanna try it? What will you use for your little dots? Oh, and be sure to follow us on Pinterest!

Have a creative week . . .
Tricia
