New Formula for OWH Sketch #39

Happy Birthday, Operation Write Home!

Congratulations to Sandy Allnock and her amazing crew for completing another year of an impressive mission to provide cards for our deployed troops to send home to their families. We are honored to participate in the effort and hope that you'll join in on the fun.

Let's celebrate the occasion with a new cutting formula for OWH Card Sketch #39

Here's the original OWH Sketch #39.
I've used papers, stamped images and embellishments from the August Bold Blooms collection from Club Scrap. I love the cheerful style of this kit and the fun(ny) rubber stamps. ;)

August 2012 Bold Bold Unmounted Stamp Sheet
Grab four sheets of 8.5x11" paper in four different colors. Each sheet will be trimmed exactly the same way. Just like homemade cookies, you can make a double or triple batch by simply adding more paper.

Use a trimmer to cut each 8.5x11 sheet as follows:
1. Trim horizontally at 5.5".
2. Cut one 5.5x8.5 horizontally at 8.25, 6 and 3.25".
3. Trim the 3.25x5.5 horizontally at 4.5".
4. Cut the 2.75x5.5 horizontally at 4".
5. Trim the 2.25x5.5 horizontally at 4.5, 3 and 1.5".
6. Score and fold the remaining 5.5x8.5 horizontally at 4.25".

If that sounds really, really hard, watch this video to see that it's not all that bad. You'll get used to it. I promise.

Next, sort the pieces to interchange the colors and arrange them as indicated on the sketch.

Stamp and decorate the cards. I used some of the "scraps" for stamped greetings. (Every piece of paper is precious, yah?)

Stand back and admire. 'Cuz you're the bee's knees.

Thanks for spending some of your Saturday with me!

Tricia Morris from Club Scrap®

P.S. One more important thing that I almost forgot! We've created a special shopping code to celebrate the OWH birthday! Enter code: HBDAYOWH at checkout for 50% off the Unmounted Military stamp plate. The code is only good from 9/15-9/16, 2012! Since the item is small and light weight, you can also request to have it shipped via the postal service in the notes/comments area of your order, and we'll manually adjust the quoted shipping charges to reflect your savings.

  8. This looks like a great technique, especially when you hit a creative block. Almost like a 'paint by numbers' kit' for card makers!

    1. That's exactly right, Paula! Love it! I know that some crafters feel a little bit uncomfortable with all of the measurements at first, but it's so worth the time savings after a while!

  9. Love it! Thank you Tricia and Club Scrap!
