It's Font Week. (Not Shark Week.)

Hey, there!

Have you ever heard of Shark Week? Since it airs on the Discovery Channel in August, you only have to wait about 216 more days to watch it. In the meantime . . .

It's Font Week at Club Scrap!

Holy smokes. I think we're crazy. Did I read that right? 90% off? This nutty sale ends on Monday, January 14, 2013. So, you can shop today for the best selection, and then tell your friends about it after you check out.

If you don't know how to use unmounted stamps, you might want to take a look at this how-to video. I love that they take up far less space than traditional wood mounted stamps.

Unmounted alphabet stamps pose a unique set of challenges, but also have awesome advantages. For example, unlike alphabet stickers, you never run out of letters!!! Don't you just hate that when you're trying to spell out "Emily's Excellent Adventures" and it looks like " mily's  xc ll nt Adv ntur s"? Ugggh. If you're using stamps, that will NEVER happen.

Using UM fonts is also less time consuming and costly than punching or cutting and adhering letters from expensive hand held or electronic die cutting equipment. Since my patience level is generally on the low side of things, stamping out a page title with UM fonts runs at my peak, but I always enjoy the results. No tweezers or mini glue pens required!

Rather than take tons of photos to demonstrate my love for UM fonts, I decided to whip out the video camera, solicit Kay's assistance, and head to the studio. It's been a while.

  8. Thanks for the reminder video, Tricia -- those fonts get very overlooked at my house. I particularly love the decorated envelope! Must do that more...

  9. Tricia: My favorite part of the video was when you stamped the last 'a' in Grandma and it was orange/tangerine. Your comment was so cute—and you just go with the flow. I love Concrete Jungle EVERYTHING. I just ordered more of the Chrome sheets last night as a matter of fact.

Now off to dig out my UM fonts and make some page titles. Thanks for the inspiration Tricia...as always!

    1. Too funny--I thought of you when that happened. But I figure, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone, so I might as well just go with it!

  13. I love your tip on adding the adhesive before cutting. I always cut out all the letters, then try to put the adhesive on each one. And the idea of leaving them in strips until you need to use them is great! I have a few sheets of unmounted fonts that I have not touched because it was too much work. And then I don't use them because they are ready when I need them. I can't wait to start using them now.

    1. I'm so glad that helped. I think it did it the other way just one time, and that was all it took! Leaving them in strips works great for when I want to use the letters as art elements, too. But when I cut them into individual letters, I always do a super-neat job of it because I'm more focused on the title I'm creating. I'm so glad you'll give it a try this way!

  14. This is a great time to stock up and at these prices I order more than one sheet of my favorite font so I have extra of those most used letters. This way I can stamp out longer words with multiples of letters all at once!

  36. My resolutions this year was to make a list of projects in the works and finish those first. My unmounted stamps is in that list. I think I really like the binder idea and cutting the sheets in strips. This will save me some time. I love the colorful envelopes. Nice touch to a plain envelope. Thanks for the video of tips. Tami
