When I cut a piece of paper I want to be able to then fold that cut piece in half and have the ends match EXACTLY. It is both a blessing and a curse to be so persnickety so I am looking forward to putting this trimmer to the test in Grapevine. I'm hopeful that since it lives up to your mswhizzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05773609068271231312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-49506521294022347292014-01-21T11:09:44.727-06:002014-01-21T11:09:44.727-06:00Thanks for the info about the blade lock -- looks ...Thanks for the info about the blade lock -- looks like I'll be adding the Fiskar trimmer to my wish list!Kathryn Monroehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07839379070409364161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-60640356265513370892014-01-20T08:52:10.021-06:002014-01-20T08:52:10.021-06:00Good news . . . this Fiskars has a handle lock rig...Good news . . . this Fiskars has a handle lock right on the board. You simply pull the guillotine handle slightly to the right, and rest it onto the peg on the base of the trimmer. I use my 18" Dahle rotary trimmer if I'm not up for making the cuts with a ruler and craft knife. I've been successful with cutting vellum, text weight, cover stock, etc. with this new Fiskars, and that pretty much covers my needs in the craft room.Tricia Morrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08608846744729673377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-38390304628050611152014-01-20T08:47:00.095-06:002014-01-20T08:47:00.095-06:00Hi, Lisa! They tend to be a much higher price point and quite heavy, thus making it less feasible for use in the classroom at trade shows, 'n such. But Dahle is certainly an excellent brand!Tricia Morrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08608846744729673377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-5503748176709934582014-01-19T18:48:33.176-06:002014-01-19T18:48:33.176-06:00Did you happen to compare this to any of the Dahle...Did you happen to compare this to any of the Dahle guillotines?Fairy Cardmaker, Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01203808294644401100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-61677746098986692382014-01-18T12:00:37.573-06:002014-01-18T12:00:37.573-06:00Thanks for finding a new one! Thanks for finding a new one!Carolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17653984736128408354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-31991611937992437222014-01-18T10:48:59.523-06:002014-01-18T10:48:59.523-06:00I have the portable tonic and I love it, but I als...I have the portable tonic and I love it, but I also have several other Fiskars trimmers ones with blades and a rotary also. One thing both this and the Tonic are missing is a blade lock. A lock was a standard safety feature on my old trimmer.. To be sure I have not cut myself with the Tonic (yet) when moving it around in my small workspace or packing it to take somewhere, but it's probably a matter of time, Does anyone have Kathryn Monroehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07839379070409364161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-66324486228857905432014-01-18T10:28:51.081-06:002014-01-18T10:28:51.081-06:00I love the new one that you are showing.I love the new one that you are showing.Jill Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02626227704302068433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-65461477308253060702014-01-18T09:48:06.894-06:002014-01-18T09:48:06.894-06:00I had to laugh at the comment in parentheses--that...I had to laugh at the comment in parentheses--that was me!! hehehe I'm sorry to hear that Tonic has discontinued their trimmer as well. I'm thoroughly enjoying mine. I must say, when I first started scrapbooking I ran out and bought the old gray & orange Fiskars, and even though I have since bought 4 other trimmers, I just cannot bare to give up on it and find myself reaching for Lori Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02921243306978731461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5654083932128429502.post-72617985286480249602014-01-18T08:18:54.224-06:002014-01-18T08:18:54.224-06:00Fiskars is a wonderful company and I am sure this ...Fiskars is a wonderful company and I am sure this is a perfect choice.
