We Remember Courage
9/11/01.
Former New York City mayor, Rudolph Giuliani, said this:
"The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead we have emerged stronger and more unified. We feel renewed devotion to the principles of political, economic, and religious freedom, the rule of law and respect for human life. We are more determined than ever to live our lives in freedom."
I know you're like me. You remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when it became evident that our country was attacked.
I especially remember seeing Thomas Franklin's photo of the three firemen raising the flag amid the rubble at ground zero. It became an icon of the strength, courage and resilience of America and its heroes. Club Scrap had the honor of transforming that image into a rubber stamp, and I thought it might be fitting to stamp it once again.
We will never forget.
I am a Club Scrap member as well as a widow of 9/11. My husband worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and the last time I spoke to him was when he got to work that morning early. My daughter and I will always miss him. Thank you for remembering 9/11 with your blog. I appreciate it very much. Sincerely, Alice Adler
ReplyDeleteI'm honored that you took the time to share with us, Alice. God bless you and your family as you remember your husband and continue to bear the reality of your loss on a daily basis. Words fail to express an adequate response; just know that we are thinking of you.
DeleteSuch a beautiful card and fitting remembrance. Indeed, all of us do recall exactly where we were and what we were doing -- some more deeply than others. We stand together; some needing to lean and others able to be leaned on.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tricia.
I do not have stories to share; but as an American, I would love to see this stamp at least once a year! It is beautiful and for everyone to see. I do hope you can share another creation next year.

You are so right about that day. We will never forget. The card and that iconic image say it all.
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS AMERICA.
Alice I am so sorry for your loss.
I partipate in a memorial service each year and will do so again this evening. For me, this memorial is both a sobering reminder of how much we have lost as well as how much we have to be grateful for in this beautiful country of ours.
ReplyDeleteI was is Slovenia at the time and will never forget what it felt like to be afraid to come home to my own country! I never want to feel that fear again! Thanks to all who protect our freedom every day! Prays and blessings to you Alice!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Tricia and all at Club Scrap - Thank you so much for the beautiful card and all of the signatures. I feel truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful organization, even in a teeny tiny way as a scapper. Thank you again for the treasured card. Most sincerely with lots of love and gratitude, Alice Adler.
