More Peeking At Take Wing

Friday Greetings!

As Tricia is putting together the fourteen ALSB pages for the upcoming Take Wing Collection, I can't help but peek over her shoulder. (I can do that because I'm tall. Ha!). I thought I'd share some of my sneak peeks today.

I don't think I'm giving away too much, I'm just showing off some of the fun quotes on the Cutaparts and rubber stamps. Right?

I hope one of these Take Wing quotes makes your day a little happier. Enjoy! And thanks, Tricia, for letting me peek over your shoulder during this creative process.

Navigating the Scrap Rap

Happy Thursday!

I was chatting with someone at Retreat a few weeks ago and discovered that there are some features in the Scrap Rap each month that some of you may not know about. Although the Rap first makes an appearance around the 1st of the month, it’s updated on the 15th and the 20th, so it’s really not ‘complete’ until nearly the end of the month.
The August 'Tribal' Rap
Two different versions of the Rap are created . . . the online version and the PDF version. Both of these options are available HERE. On the surface, these two versions look the same, but they offer different choices.

The Online Version:

1. To move from page-to-page in the online Rap, hover over a right-hand page and the cursor will change to a ‘pointing hand’ - click and hold and drag the page to the left to ‘turn the page’ and move to the next page. Click and hold the left page and drag it to the right to move to a previous page.
Sample 'Pointing Hand' Cursor
2. Double-click on any page to open a larger version of the page for easier reading.

3. While viewing the larger page, click on the printer icon in the upper right corner (near the ‘X’) to print just that page.

4. Click on the ‘X’ to close the large page.

The PDF Version:

1. Hover over various word and graphics on the cover and the inside pages. Anytime your cursor changes to one of those ‘pointing hand’ cursors, you’ve discovered a link!

2. Click on a link on the cover or in the Table of Contents and you will go to the page in the Rap containing that story.

3. Click on other links (like the Greeting to Go samples), and you’ll be taken to the online store page to see more information about the product - and buy one if you’d like, too!

So there you have it - a few things about the Rap that you may not have known before today. I hope this information will help you get more out of this great resource.

See you next week!

August Tribal Blog Hop

Greetings, all! Welcome to the Tribal Blog Hop! Today we have over a dozen talented bloggers sharing projects made with Club Scrap's August Tribal collection.

The stamp image above from the Tribal Collection Unmounted Rubber sheet has a special place in my heart, so I knew I wanted my blog hop project to feature it prominently. This frame now sits proudly on my desk at work! If you're interested, the full story, and the quickie tutorial, are at the end of this post.

Now let's check out what the other bloggers have in store for us. Happy hopping!

The UM story, and a quickie tutorial:

There's usually a lot of back and forth, choosing what works, and what doesn't, before the designers settle on the final product you see each month. The August unmounted stamps were no exception. I happened to be conveniently located nearby when the Tribal  UM discussion took place. There was a large open space where a previous idea had been scrapped that needed filling. I casually mentioned how much I liked the look of the symbols, but wish I knew what they meant. Once Jac provided the translations, I suggested it might be cool to pair those words with the art. Imagine how excited I was when I saw the final proof of the Tribal Collection UM sheet!

Since a picture's worth a thousand words, here's a step-by-step photo tutorial.

Paint inexpensive 5x7 frame with black acrylic paint.

Spritz Memories Mist onto Tribal Lite Masking Stencil.

Pretty!

Stamp UM image with India Black Ink.

Decorate frame with Gold Playcolor Metallic paint.

Voila!
Creatively yours,
Karen

Take Wing Spoiler

This li'l beauty ships a week from today. Darn Labor Day, causing this painful delay until next Tuesday. I figure a somewhat revealing spoiler is in order.

I uttered at least a month's worth of words at the Chicago Scrapbook Expo last weekend, so I think I'll let the pictures do the talking here with the exception of a few captions.
Stamp feather image with Gelatos.
Nest onto several mattes and a Lime card base.
Stamp greeting from the Collection UM.
Wind some of the pretty fiber around the Red panel.
Mmmmmmm.

Make another card with the stamps, stencil and embossing folder. Mmmmmmm.
Off to make more fun stuff with Take Wing. I cannot help myself. If you're not signed up to get this kit, we'll be happy to fix that for you!

Spoilingly Yours,
Tricia

Pattern Basics Layouts

Good Monday Morning everyone!

I attended iClassy Girl's (aka Tiare Smith's) online August Pajama Party where she featured this months very cool Tribal Kit in her layout. She provided this sketch and gave us ingredients we would need to participate in a live video tutorial broadcast. I decided to watch and chat this time around, but knew that I wanted to create my own layouts using this great sketch.

Tiare's August PJ Party Sketch
With the sketch in hand, I took out my Pattern Basics Brights papers, 4 photos, two 4.25x4.25" purple & two 4.25x4.25" shimmer blue photo mats from the 2011 Papillon kit and two sheets of 12x12 white textured cardstock from the 2009 Solstice kit.

Here are the 2 layouts that I created.
Sun die cut using Silhouette SD.
Flower die cut using Tim Holtz Tattered florals Sizzix die.
Smallest flower center punched using small sun punch and pearl from stash.

Special thanks to Tiare for hosting the event and providing this fun sketch!

I used the Sorrento Font Art Stamp set using CS Amethyst Hybrid Ink for both titles. I hand wrote portions of the title and journalling in Distress Marker (Spiced Marmalade and Faded Jeans) using the fine tip end.

Hope you will stop by and watch the taped version of Tiare's broadcast.* It just might inspire you to make some layouts of your own. Or, better yet, join her next month for her September PJ Party. I hope to see you all there.

Hope you have a fantastic week!

Julie

All About Club Stamp's Concertina Book Project

Friday Greetings to you!

With the Club Stamp Kit and Project shipping earlier this week, I think this blog entry should be all about the Concertina Book Project! This is the front of the book when it's closed and secured with the ribbon closure.

I've designed a series of three "pop-out" windows within the book--two on one side and one on the other. Can you see all the decorating possibilities? I left some room for photos to be added later.

Using a CS Ink Applicator, I added color with Club Scrap's Ruby, Topaz and India Inks. The Tribal Masking Stencil came in handy in this section.

Adding black acrylic paint seemed to make the perfect background for the gold metallic PlayColor (from the Club Scrap Lite Kit) with the Hopes flower stencil.

And it all folds perfectly flat inside the book covers.

The Club Stamp Project Instructions have all the details on how to make the book, so I won't go on and on. I just wanted to share some of the fun!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

More Digital Inspiration and a Free Digi Template

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

Did you see Julie’s blog post on Monday? If you missed it, click HERE to read it! I was so inspired that I made a digi-card using the card sketch that Julie shared. Oh, and a big thanks to Jen for hosting the card sketch challenge each month in the Club Scrap forum! As a reminder, here’s that card sketch:
August Card Sketch

And this is the card I made using Club Scrap’s Tribal Digital Kit:
My Digi Birthday Card

Then I thought that this card sketch would make a really cool 12x12 layout! So I built a template in Photoshop using that card sketch as a guide:

Digi Layout Template, based on the Card Sketch

Would you like a copy of this template? Of course you would - after all, it’s FREE! Click HERE to download.

Naturally, I had to make a layout using the template. Once again, I used the Tribal Digital Kit ('cept for the brads--those are from an older CS digi kit):

My Digi Layout
So there you have it, some digital inspiration and a free gift! Doesn’t get much better than that, now does it?

Thanks for stopping by - see ya next week!

Assembly Line Cardmaking with Pattern Basics

Happy Wednesday!

I never seem to get enough "play" time with my stash. Do you feel the same way? There are just never enough hours in the day, am I right? However, one of my "jobs" when we go to conventions is to demonstrate with the Club Scrap product line. Wha? Get paid to "play"? Count me in!

With the St. Charles Scrapbook Expo starting Friday, I thought I'd share a couple of cards created during my designated demo (aka: playtime) at the Minnesota Scrapbook Expo a month ago.

I'm lovin' the new Pattern Basics paper, so I grabbed the "Brights" Pattern Basics paper pack, along with my trusty Assembly Line Cardmaking Idea Deck (Volume 2), and got to work.

ALCM Idea Deck Vol.2--2 of Hearts

These first 2 cards were created using the 2 of Hearts formula. (All of the cutting instructions are on the back of the card.)

The Pattern Basics have a white core, so I was able to flip to the plain white side to stamp greetings and images from the WOW Spring Unmounted stamp sheet. Cool, eh?

ALCM Idea Deck Vol.2--7 of Hearts

And these 2 cards were created using the 7 of Hearts formula.

I just love the "matchbook" style of these cards with the staple on the flap . . . so unique!

Both of these ALCM formulas created four greeting cards each, so I ended up with a grand total of eight greeting cards . . . all trimmed, assembled, stamped and ready to send in the span of about 20 minutes. I may not have hours of "play" time available to me, but all of us should be able to squeeze in 20-30 minutes here and there, dontcha think?

Wishing you the gift of creative "play" time,

Karen
