Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses
across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated
every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Happy Saturday! Today is "Small Business Saturday". What the heck is that? Well, it's a day designed to remind us how important it is to support small local businesses. Small businesses need our support, not just today, but throughout the year. Why not stop into that cute coffee shop on the corner, or the "Mom and Pop" bakery downtown with yummy aromas wafting from it, or the small family restaurant where you can still get the "Hamburger/Malt Special" for $5.99?

You can help Club Scrap, too! Help our small business grow by referring a friend to join one of our Clubs. It's super easy, and we even have a little incentive for you (in case you need it).

Our designers have created this beautiful Weathered Florals paper collection, and you can earn it FREE, just by referring a friend who joins one of our Clubs. But here's the catch (there's always a catch, right?) You can't buy it. Nope. The only way to get your hands on this awesome collection is to refer a friend.

And what if more than one friend joins a Club? Why, then you'll receive the coordinating Weathered Florals unmounted rubber stamp sheet! How cool is that?

So, in the spirit of this weekend of giving thanks, we want to thank you for your support as a member, customer and fan. We appreciate you and look forward to growing with you well into the future. Have a great weekend!

Creatively yours,
Karen

Fire & Ice Blog Hop

Welcome to the November Blog Hop. I can't wait to see what all of our other bloggers are up to today!

My friend Julie shared a really cool photo with me the other day that inspired this Fire & Ice scrapbook page. I think this page really captures the concept of "fire" and "ice", do you agree?

To create the base paper, I stamped a 12x12 Blue Plain with the ice crystal image using Versamark ink and heat embossed with iridescent embossing powder. (I used the embossing powder from the Aurora Borealis kit from a few years ago, but any shimmery/iridescent embossing powder will do.)

I stamped the phrase with Sapphire Hybrid Ink onto a plain white panel, and added more stamped "ice crystals" with Versamark ink and clear glitter embossing powder around the edge of the panel.

Now it's time to check out what awesome creations our other bloggers have in store for us. Here's a full list of the Hop participants. If you like what you see, please leave a little blog lovin' in the form of a comment, it will really make their day!

Holiday Gift Card Box Tutorial and Video

Happy Tuesday!

Our entire staff will be meeting soon to reflect on 2013 and brainstorm for 2014. We value your thoughts . . . can you take a second and complete a brief survey? We didn't want to pester you with an email today, so I'll just pester you here.

Thank you!

And to thank you for your time, here's a fun little bonus project just in time for gift giving season!

Here's what you'll need:
(I used supplies from the Hopes and Up, Up & Away Collections, but I can imagine this in a year's worth of CS kits!!)
  • 6.25x10.75" Outer Case Paper
  • (2) 4.5x6" Outer Case Panels
  • 1x6" Spine Panel
  • 5x8-3/8" Card Pocket Paper
  • 1.5x12" Envelope Band
  • 2.25x4" Postage Stamp Pocket
  • (8) A2 envelopes
  • (4) 8.5x11" Papers
  • Stuff to decorate eight cards
  • Corner Chomper
  • Ribbon Closure
  • Adhesive and Tape
  • Score-Pal
  • Scissors
1. Score the 6.25x10.75 Outer Case Paper horizontally at 4.75 and 6". Round outside corners and fold along scorelines to form the case.

2. Round corresponding corners of the 4.5x6" Outer Case panels with the 1/2" setting on the Corner Chomper. Sandwich ribbon closure between the panels and outside of the case before attaching. (Don't be like me and forget to do this.) Nest the 1x6" Spine Panel to the outside spine.

3. Score 2" from each outside edge of the 5x8-3/8" Card Pocket Paper. Make four vertical cuts along the scorelines, stopping at each intersecting score. Fold along scorelines, place adhesive on the outside of the four corner tabs, and fold into a box shape. Attach to the right side of the case.

4. Score 1/2" from one long edge and both short edges of the 2.25x4" Stamp Pocket Paper. Cut at an angle through the intersecting scorelines. Fold to create three flaps and adhere to the inner box.

5. Wrap the 1.5x12" Envelope Band vertically around eight A2 envelopes; secure with tape. Place adhesive on the back of the band and attach to the inside left cover of the case.

6. Score each 8.5x11" paper vertically at 4.25". Trim horizontally at 5.5" to create eight card bases. Decorate notecards with elements from the collection including the 8.5x11" Club Stamp print, Greetings to Go cutaparts, etc. In fact, I didn't even use a single stamp to make my cards today. That was nice, because I'm doing lots of stamping for tomorrow's blog hop.

7. Repeat.

But really. Wouldn't a video be helpful? Kay was kind enough to film the card case-making action. Take five and check it out.

I liked this project because of its simplicity and usefulness. Spread some Club Scrap joy this season to your friends, family and teachers. They'll love it!

Tricia

Autumn Album

Good Monday Morning Everyone!!

As I was browsing Pinterest one day, I ran across a stunning Autumn card. I knew I wanted to recreate it using my Club Scrap supplies. Here are the steps I took in recreating this card to make an Autumnal cover for a handmade album. Having been around for a while, you'll see that some of my materials are a blast from the past. Do you have them, too?

Autumn Album
Find a seed packet template online and customize using iScrapbook software.
Print it out on copy paper in black and white.
Use the Autumn Garden stamp and stencil to create a focal image on the front of the seed packet.
The Just Dandy leaf and Take Wing swirl stamp worked nicely with the pumpkins image.
Cut small rectangles on canvas from the Versailles kit and color using Peeled Paint Distress stain.
Stencil the word Autumn onto sticker paper. Fussy cut and adhere to canvas flags.
Create the album using the Wildflowers Stamp kit project as a guide.
My album used book board cover pieces that are 9x9" square. It used a total of 3 spine pieces. Two .75x9" and one 2x9". Use five 12x12 sheets of cardstock from the October 2006 Farmer's Market kit. 4 Pumpkin orange sheets for the inside and outside covers and 1 Dark brown sheet for the inside and outside spine. Holes are punched in the .75x9" spine pieces for binding.
Use clear brown pony beads for the spacers.
The inside pages are 8.5x11" cardstock from the same kit.  Pick 2 sheets of 3 different colors and score them at 1" and 2" from one of the short sides. Punch holes to coincide with the spines holes for binding. Run a line of ATG double sided tape  along the edge of the first scored area.
Fold on the 1"score line and adhere to create a double thickness of cardstock.
Use six 8.5 x 11" sheets of the Farmer's Market paper 2 each of 3 different colors cut horizontally at 8.25" to cover the back sides of each page.
Die cut leaves from Lodge, Memoirs, and Scholarship cardstocks using Sizzix Tattered Leaves.  *Note: Memoirs green and Scholarship tan cardstocks inked with Peeled Paint and Wild Honey Distress Stains. Stitch a sheet of Farmer's Market green cardstock cut at 7.75" square to a sheet of 8.5" square canvas. Adhere a torn and inked paper doily to the green cardstock and attach the remaining embellishments using hot glue.

I always enjoy admiring and being inspired by what others have created and then giving their creations my own Club Scrap twist.  Hoping you will give it a try too.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week.

Gnome For The Holidays

Just released . . . Club Scrap's Gnome For The Holidays Collection!

I have to start off by thanking Anne Marie Healey along with many other 2013 Club Scrap Retreat attendees (you know who you are!) for brainstorming such wonderful inspiration for kits and collections they would like to see in Club Scrap's design future!

We were thrilled and impressed when Anne Marie followed up by forwarding the Design Team a full power point presentation of Gnomely design ideas, quotes and evidence as to why we needed to release this collection! There was, like, Gnome-way we could miss the target on this one!

We were able to take the prototypes of the collection and stamps to our weekend at Silver Birch Ranch. It was a hoot sitting across from Tricia as she used the Card Collection along with the Stamp/UM set to create cards. EVERY time she stamped the gnome, she'd laugh or giggle about him. She would show us her darling results after making each card, and the rest of us would laugh, too. Here are a few of Tricia's cards . . . you'll see what I mean.

Have you seen how the stencil works with the stamp collection? It fits perfectly for coloring the Gnome, Present and Holly Leaves featured on the stamps. In fact, it's included with the stamps!

The Gnome fun doesn't stop with the cards! As always, Tricia whipped up a great ALSB with this Gnome Paper Collection!

It's true . . .  there's no place like Gnome for holiday crafting and card making this year! :)

As you prepare for the holiday season, hoping your Gnome is filled with lots of love and blessings!

Thanks for stopping by . . .

Digital Multicolored Stamping

Happy Thursday!

I want to start by thanking CS Member Norma for inspiring me to discuss today’s topic! Norma started a thread recently in the CS Forum asking about this and it’s a really cool technique, so I thought I’d share it with all of you.

I’m using Photoshop CC for this tutorial but it works in other versions of Photoshop and should be possible in other graphics programs that support layers.

1. Create a new document: 12 x 12, 300 ppi, white transparent white background.

2. Open the StampGraphic04 file from the Fire & Ice Digital Kit.

3. Drag the stamp image onto your new document and rotate it into a horizontal position.

4. Duplicate the stamp image layer, rotate it and drag it down a bit, letting it overlap slightly.

5. Repeat Step 4 a few more times until you get a shape you like (my example has a total of 5 stamp images).

6. Merge all the stamp image layers into a single layer.

7. Open Background01 from the Fire & Ice Digital Kit.

8. Drag the background onto your document.

9. Rotate the background 90 degrees and resize it so that it just covers the stamp graphic.

10. Create a Clipping Mask - Layer Menu -> Create Clipping Mask.

That’s the technique - isn’t it cool looking? With this particular stamp, I think the effect is similar to using Gelatos on paper.

Now let’s turn it into a digital card: crop the white background, and layer it with a couple of other backgrounds, add a stamp sentiment image on top and you’re done!

I hope you’ll give this technique a try - the results can be stunning!

Until next week!
