Pop-up Box Card

I've been PIN-spired again! I actually pinned this project long ago, but I finally took the time to give it a try and I couldn't wait to share it with you.

3-dimensional fun!
If you search "pop-up box card", there are all sorts of variations out there. I followed the instructions HERE, using her cutting and scoring guide to create the box structure from one 12x12 Oopsie Daisy Caramel Plain.

However, I did notice a typo in her list of printed panels needed to decorate the box. For Step 6, you actually need two 2.5 x 6.25” panels: one for the inside and one for the outside. Of course, I didn't realize this until AFTER cutting one 8.5x11 Grey Print to create my panels--I wasn't happy I'd have to cut into a second. Therefore, to save you from similar trauma . . . and to take advantage of the efficiency of the assembly line method . . . I asked Tricia to help me create a cutting formula for the printed panels. (You're welcome.)

  1. Trim a 12x12 Print at 10, 7.5, 5 and 2.5".
  2. Cut two 2.5x12 strips horizontally at 8.75 and 6.25".
  3. Trim one 2.5x12 horizontally at 10.5, 7 and 3.5".
  4. Trim one 2.5x12 horizontally at 10, 7.5, 5 and 2.5".

The leftover scraps can be used to stamp or die cut elements to decorate the pop-up section. Otherwise use art and quotes from the Cutaparts to further embellish the card.

Not bad for a project using just two 12x12s. This little cutie folds flat and can be mailed in a 6x9" envelope, but there are other size variations available.

This card style has tons of potential, don't you think? I hope you'll give it a try!

Wishing you a safe and creative holiday weekend!
