Color me Plaid!

Happy Thursday! Ron here with some thoughts on color this week.

I love color. And I know that there are a lot of Club Scrap members who feel very strongly about color - there have been some enthusiastic discussions about color in the Coffeehouse Forum at Club Scrap's main web site over the years!

I can't honestly say I dislike any color - I think they all have their place in the overall scheme of things, but there are some colors I prefer over others. I love blues and greens and purples and I'm really fond of earth tones - brown and tan, beige and taupe, forest green, pumpkin, mud, olive and burnt sienna!  And grey - I love it in all shades. Oh and kraft brown is probably my favorite 'neutral' card stock - mix it with navy and cream for a really great combo. Or kraft and black - classic! And while I'm not so fond of those warmer colors - you know, the reds and yellows and pink (although I'm with Rita when it comes to orange - love it!), I must say that I really loved the mix of colors in August's Bold Blooms - that red and bright pink and orange with that cool shade of green all really pop on black - such a wonderful riot of colors! And when it comes to metallics, I 'm all about copper and pewter more than gold and silver.

Pick a color - any color! What's your favorite?

And I must say, Club Scrap has always come up with some amazing color combos - a few colors that you'd expect to see together along with a color that I've often said "I never would have used THAT color with these, but oh my gosh, it works!" Ya know what I mean? How many times have you (or someone you know over in the CS forum) said "I really didn't care for the colors in 'such and such' kit, but you know, I used up EVERY piece of that kit that I had! I wish I could find more!!!"

See, I really don't think there are any bad colors, maybe just inappropriate quantities of some of them :) - but somehow, Club Scrap always makes it work. And that makes Club Scrap extraordinary in my book (well, truthfully, that's just one of the many reasons that makes them extraordinary!).

So do yourself a favor and take another look at the colors of paper you have in your stash and give that 'not so favorite' color another chance - you might be pleasantly surprised!

  1. I LOVE COLOR! I think that is one of my favorite things about my Club Scrap kit. I love the excitement of seeing what color combo they are going to come up with next. Right now my favorite color is a Turquoise / Ocean blue color. That color between blue and green that just makes me so happy. Artifacts kit comes to mind. One of my faves!

  2. I certainly have a thing for purple and green, but then again I love neutrals with a splash of color, it's amazing how color can change your mood same days.

  3. I agree, Ron. Just mixing a color you don't care for with one you do can make all the different. I saw a challenge on a website recently that said mint green was a hot color right now. Blech! I'll pass....wait, that mint looks really sweet with kraft...hmmm....time to experiment.

(And Julie, I'm in love with the Dk Teal from Serengeti still. Or the teal funky textured paper from Castaway...)
