With the wonderful Unmounted Rubber Stamp Font Sale going on here at Club Scrap (they are such a good deal right now!!!) I wanted to put some of my font stamps into action here on the cover of my new D-Ring Album. This D-Ring Album is a past retreat project and I'm so glad we keep a few colors in stock yet, however I didn't use the paper that came with the kit on this project, I collaged several UM Font stamped scraps of cardstock together to cover this album. Actually I did use the black inside and outside spine wrap that came in the kit, but then the rest came from my own stash.
I got the inspiration from a wall hanging I bought Marilee a year or so ago, you know, those plaques containing all those great words of wisdom. Well why not make my own using Club Scrap Font stamps?!?! So I attached the spine wrap and began to fill the front cover with stamped cardstock, beginning with the piece that states "Things to do" of course.
I think the big tip is just being sure to get glue brushed all the way to the edges of each paper so that no paper edges or corners pop up.
I continued covering the book board cover, wrapping the cardstock around the
edges until it was complete.
Then finished the inside covers off with attaching a coordinating 12x12. The last step for me was punching the holes and setting the binder mechanism with rivets using a heavy duty rivet setter. Worked pretty slick I must say :) The binder and rivets come right in the kit.
Yeah! I'm all excited and ready to load my new 12x12 album with layouts!
Enjoy the UM Font Sale and thanks for looking!
Wishing you a creative upcoming weekend,
Kay
P.S. I'm adding a pic of the album back cover. I forgot to initially but thought I would today. The back cover certainly went quicker than the front with less piecing, but it coordinates well and works for me :)
Kay your album is gorgeous!

Love it Kay! I can't wait for my pizza box to come with all my UMs - I have a similar idea in mind!
ReplyDeleteHope you post your similar idea in mind, when finished, somewhere that we can all see it too.
DeleteThanks
Just love it! I want one too.
ReplyDeleteKay... I'm not sure what world you came from but whatever it is... it is wonderful! You are beyond talented! I love this creation!
ReplyDeleteWOW... Club Scrap... hang on to this woman!
Kay really is awesome, isn't she? :0)
DeleteThanks so much! It is a great day when we can spend a little time being in the creative world we want to be in, doing what we love, isn't it?
DeleteI love this and it just so happens that I still have 2 of those album kits on hand - hmmmmm........
ReplyDeleteI got to see Kay's creation in person yesterday, and I have to tell you, my jaw dropped...it is flat-out gorgeous and I can't wait to scrap-lift the idea. It occurred to me that the "patchwork" effect is the perfect solution to the "nekkid" album kits I have at home. I am beyond excited! Luv ya, Kay!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay,
ReplyDeleteThat is such a wonderful front for an album! I love all these subway arts I see around. Would be fun to make a card like this. Thanks for the idea!
Wonderful way to use the nekkid binder! (Say, could you show us what you did with the back cover?) :)
ReplyDeleteLove this Kay! Now, I'm going to have to track down one of those albums.
ReplyDeleteKay this is stunning! Love that you used the font sets to make your collage! So cool!
ReplyDeleteScraplift time!! That's beautiful Kay! Ordered enough UMs to keep me very busy.
ReplyDeleteI really like that Kay. Well done. I am in my scrapbook room organizing my stamps. I will keep this in mind for a project to do.
ReplyDeletewhat a great project! I might have to scraplift this.
ReplyDeleteLovely - how do you plan that? It is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteI did forget to snap a pic of the back cover, will do on Tuesday when I'm back in the office since I left the album at Club Scrap. On the back cover, I just used 5 larger plain unstamped cardstock peices to cover the back cover. So it went quicker than the front cover, yet still coordinated.
ReplyDeleteAs far as planning the front cover, I did start with the larger "things to do" stamped peice on the top, leaving enough paper for wrapping around the top edge, and really just went peice by peice from there, I didn't really have a plan, just went one peice at a time. Does that help at all?
You know I have about 8 of these (oops) and need some made up and this looks fantastic! Thanks for the great demo/blog!!
ReplyDeleteLynn - Just added pics of the back of the back of the album today, not sure why I didn't in the first place - thanks for asking for that!
