Noise stamps can be great for creating awesome customized sheets of paper that can be incorporated into cards, pages and projects.
Check out the process using three different recipes:
1. Bold Blooms Club Stamp Unmounted Sheet; Carnation, Tangerine and Ruby Inks; Light Pink paper.
Ink and stamp the texture noise onto the paper and stamp several more times until all ink is off the stamp. Repeat until the sheet is covered.
Tip: When stamping off the edge of the paper (and be sure to do that), do not stamp back onto the paper fully. The stamp will make a nasty straight edge on your paper and you'll be super-bummed. If this happens, all is not lost . . . simply stamp over it until the line disappears.
It's fun to add depth to the texture by stamping with additional ink colors.
2. Equestrian CS Unmounted Sheet; Mahogany and Earth Inks; Tan Paper.
At first, the stamped image might seem to have a harsh, straight edge. Don't give up. Keep stamping additional times at different angles until the edges blend.
3. Bright Lights, Big City Unmounted Sheet; White Pigment Ink; Black Paper.
Be sure to heat set if you are using pigment ink.
Once the texture sheets are complete, incorporate them with matching papers and our Idea Deck card making formulas to create fabulous cards!
I was able to make the entire batch of 14 stamped and decorated cards in about 90 minutes.
There 'ya have it! Go make some noise!
Tricia
Awesome, awesome, awesome! And--- which Idea Deck card recipes did you use to create this fabulous collection ???
ReplyDeleteYea - inquiring minds want to know!!
DeleteThe Equestrian cards were made with the 4 of clubs, ALCM Deck 2.
DeleteThe Bold Blooms cards were made with the K of diamonds, ALCM Deck 2.
The last one, well, I just made two 5.5x8.5 cards from each paper and went from there. ;)
I was just gonna ask this question - cuz I really love these sets! And you're already on it! :) You are GOOD!
DeleteAwesome - I love using noise stamps - and the soft grid stamp from Just Dandy - that makes wonderful background noise. Thank you Tricia.

Thanks, Tricia! These cards are gorgeous!! I'm gonna try with some of the other CS stamps!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Be sure to post the results in the gallery and let us know how it goes!
DeleteI especially that pink paper after shot - wow!!! I did the Equestrian noise stamp when I did the ALSB and it only called for Earth but I used Tangerine too and changed up the mats a little - loved it!!
ReplyDeleteespecially Love that pink paper
DeleteBeautiful cards and inspiring ideas! Thanks Tricia.
ReplyDeleteFantastic papers Tricia! I LOVE the Bold Blooms cards!
ReplyDeleteThanks for inspiration Tricia, from one who rarely uses those noise stamps! Resolution: try some!
ReplyDeleteConnie
Love the noise stamps you include in the kits, and wonderful information and samples too!
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I rarely use the noise stamps. I guess that will be the theme of my creative play in the next few days. And maybe I'll even try out the new ink colors we got at Retreat 2012.
ReplyDeleteAnd I was thinking that it would be a great foundation for your stenciled background techniques, too!
DeleteI just wish I didn't get the straight lines from the edge so much. I hate trying to cover them up if I don't want to much noise. Any hints on not getting them?
ReplyDeleteMy advice would be to ink the stamp more heavily in the center and much less along the outside edges. But I always have much better results if I stamp "more" noise rather than less. If you don't want it to be too loud, I'd also suggest using ink colors that closely match the paper. Light pink paper/light pink ink. Grey paper/Ash ink, etc.
DeleteI LOVE the noise stamps!!! While I do often use them when making card layers, I don't often remember to make a whole sheet -- which is brilliant. And a teriffic way to use paper colors that may not be a particular favorite. (Like those pink-averse folks!!)_
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this tutorial! I probably don't use my texture stamps as often as I should because I am crazy about the results you show!
ReplyDeleteFantastic inspiration! Noise stamps are my favorite, I actually look for those first as soon as the spoiler comes out/!
ReplyDeleteI love these! Now I want to play. Actually, now I want to go play at the stamping retreat at SBR. But that's not happening, so I want time to play instead. :)
ReplyDeleteBummer! I'm sad that I won't see you in March. Hope you get some time to play, though!
DeleteBut since I have to choose, I'm going for getting pages done and what seems to have been less chance of bad driving weather. Maybe when the girls are a little bigger...
DeleteTricia, thanks for the refresher on stamping. I forgot that the ink pad fits into the cover of the Club Scrap inks!!! And loved the hint about cutting off the borders of the Unmounted stamps. I have a lot to do!! I enjoyed the other videos as well. I never heard of "noise" stamps but now I know why I received stamps that puzzled me! LOL.
