Gnome for the Holidays Blog Hop

I'm so happy to be here today, hangin' with my Gnomies!

Welcome to the Gnome for the Holidays Blog Hop. When thinking about a project for today's hop, I knew I wanted to make something fun for the kids' tree. Each year we have two trees: one we decorate as a family with all of the heirloom ornaments, and a separate one for the kids to decorate with handmade items.

I've been having a lot of fun with the unmounted stamp and masking stencil set from this collection. I thought the cute little gnome stamp and gift stamp would create a fun garland for the tree. It was pretty easy to create. Here's what you do:

  1. Decide on a design. Stamp it onto a scrap, and cut around the image (leaving a generous white border) to create a template. Measure the width of the template.
  2. Score and accordion-fold white cardstock using the measurement above. Trace the template onto the accordion-folded piece, and cut along the traced lines. Repeat until you have reached the desired garland length when pieces are connected end to end.
  3. Finally, stamp the images onto the garland, and color images as using the Gnome for the Holidays masking stencil.

Now let's check out what the other bloggers have in store for us today!

  2. I loved the Chapter One kit...especially the alpha stickers. As I remember it, they were all different fonts and sizes on one sticker sheet. Very forward-thinking for 2007!

  31. What a great idea to make a garland from the stamped image. We used to have two trees also - so many ornaments! Now we are downsizing and have a smaller (but still fresh) tree which we stand on a box. Leaves more room for seating as our family expands! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!
