Fly-out Mini Book

Five months ago, I promised to make a little book for my neighbors to give to their foreign exchange student, Rita. I finally got around to creating it with the Dungarees collection, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out!

The sweet couple that lives next door had the chance to meet Rita's parents in Hungary. The photos in the book are from their day together.

The UM stamp image, ribbon and buttons were perfect for the cover.

The book opens in all directions with fun flaps and fold-outs.
Every flap has decorating potential!
The best part of the book is that the base is made from only one sheet of 12x12" paper.
You decide how to alter the paper flaps at the top of each section.
The pocket is made from the Dark Blue cutapart in the Embellishment Pack.
Attach the ribbon closure behind the photo layered onto the back of the book.

Such an adorable couple!
Even with all of the mattes and photos layered inside, the book still closes perfectly.
Follow the scoring/cutting instructions to create your own little mini book.

1. Score at 2-3/8 and 7-1/4. (This will make the horizontal lines as shown below.)

2. Rotate the paper one turn to the left to position the 2-3/8" scored area at the top. Score at 3-7/8, 4-1/8, 8 and 8-1/4".

3. Use a craft knife and ruler to remove the 1/4" sections within the top and bottom scored areas. Do not cut past the horizontal score lines.

4. Alter the length of the top or bottom flaps to add variety/interest to the album, or leave them "as is." Fold along all scored lines. Decorate each panel as you wish.

Have fun with this one!
