Frames Rise to the Occasion

Rita uncovered these die cut frames from a while ago and brought me a sample. They've been sitting on my table for a few weeks now, right next to my Big Shot. Huh. I know, right?

I picked out a few embossing dies and ran those frames right on through the Big Shot. Next, I did some heavy-duty direct to paper inking with CS® Earth and Sapphire inks.

YUMMY. Just sayin.

I coordinated the nested frames with papers from my stash and stamped greetings that fit nicely into the frames. Suddenly I had a nice stack of A2 sized cards ready to go to Operation Write Home! (Or, perhaps, I'll keep one or two in my stash to send out.)

The die cuts are on sale for a smokin' deal 'til they're gone, so pick some up today! They are so cleverly designed to nest perfectly and are printed on both sides, leaving tons of color combo options. But the embossing and inking really kicks 'er up a notch.

Does pretty much every paper crafter have one of these embossing-capable machines now? Are they as common as 12" paper trimmers? Just curious.

  8. Holy smokes what a wonderful idea and to use the frames for cards instead of pages.... I'm inspired and heading upstairs to the craft craziness. And yes, I think the embossers are becoming just as common as trimmers. LOVE mine. :)

  16. Tricia, I never did make good use of those die cuts, but your ideas are inspired! Can I send you mine to run thru your Big Shot? LOL

And that stamp about the Raisin cookies made me laugh out loud. Hadn't seen that one, but that is so me! How dare anyone fool me into thinking I'm biting into a CChip cookie when I'm not?!

    1. I know Beth, it happens to me, and it really makes me mad. Conversely, I prefer to have raisins in my bagels and get very disappointed when they turn out to be chocolate chips.

  34. Wonder why I love this club? Ideas like this. So simple and yes I have these frames and have not used, but Tricia thinking out of the box and suggesting running them through the Big Shot with an embossing template...GENIUS! Will be doing that right away. btw, love the Santa hat on the Club Scrap logo!

  39. Hmm no embosser here. I think if you took all my kitchen electrics and my scrapping electrics they would already fill a closet, I think I need to be on a no-electrics diet ;)

    1. Ironically, my big shot is plug free--operates on calories only. I think that's a good reason to have something like that. It's a real fat burner.

  45. Great idea Tricia, and thanks to Rita for re-introducing them. Sometimes it's those "simple" things that make you go WOW.
And yes, I think an embossing/die cut machine of some kind is in many craft rooms...mine included.
