Torn Gelli Plate Technique

The look of torn paper and a Gelli Arts Printing Plate creation all in one . . . I think I am in heaven.

Gelli prints stamped with Picnic Greetings UM sentiments. Picnic card bases and panels.
The funny and talented Barbara Gray created this technique video, and I couldn't wait to try it and share the results.

Are you ready to get creative? Grab a Gelli Arts Printing Plate, and let's go!

Allow the first layer of blue acrylic paint to dry. Brayer a thin layer of fuchsia paint and immediately apply Geometrics stencil. Use copy paper and bubble wrap to remove layers of fuschia paint while wet. Allow to dry completely.
Brayer on thin layer of green acrylic.
Use torn copy paper to mask area of paint removal.
Lay white paper over the torn paper and gel plate. Rub firmly to ensure a successful print.
Carefully peel off the print, making sure all layers of paint adhere to the white paper.
Peel the torn paper off the gel plate.
Save torn paper mask for use on ATCs.
Achieve several unique looks by using various stencils and paint colors.
ATCs inspired by Karen's post!

Adhere scraps from gel prints onto 2.5x3.5" Dungarees Light Blue and Picnic Dark Blue ATC bases. Embellish with Picnic Borders & Backgrounds and Greetings UM watermelon slices. Stamp with Black India ink and paint with matching green and fuchsia acrylic paints.
What are your favorite Gelli Arts printing techniques?

I hope you have a terrifically crafty week.

New Video: Stenciled Pocket Technique

We thought you might find it helpful to know how to create the stenciled pockets featured on page fourteen of the Dungarees assembly line scrapbook pages. Aren't they adorable?

And here is that nearly-finished page (ready for journaling) . . .

You can stuff a lot of fun things into those stenciled pockets!

You'll need the 12x12 Dungarees Kraft Plain, the Pocket Stencil, Garment Repair Tag, Woven Clothing Tags, an Ink Applicator, and Sapphire ink. (I also used tape, a grid ruler, craft knife, and pencil.)

Next, check out the video! The two-layer stencil makes creating the dimensional look super-easy. If you're new to stenciling, simply practice on a piece of scratch paper prior to diving into the real deal.

It's in the pocket!

Video Inspired Cards!

Good Monday Morning everyone!

Take Wing Card
I am sure you are saying to yourself, "this card sure looks familiar", well, that is because it should. Ron and Kay both created similar cards using completely different techniques. Inspired by Ron Perry's blog post last Thursday, I set out to create my own version. Check out Ron's excellent video tutorial HERE!

Here are the steps I took to create my Take Wing Digital Hybrid Cards.

Use Photoshop Elements to create a panel for your card,
while following along with Ron's video tutorial.
Print out your 4x5.25" panels on one sheet of 8.5x11" sticker paper.
Trim down your panels and choose 2 sheets of coordinating 8.5x11" cardstocks for card bases.
Purple and Shimmer Blue cardstocks shown from 2011 Papillon kit.
Ink edges of panels.  Score each 8.5x11" cardstock vertically at 4.25".
Then trim each sheet horizontally at 5.5" creating your 4 card bases.
Peel backing from sticker paper panels and adhere to card bases.
4 completed cards... almost...
...add a little extra bling using 2013 Spring Chorus rhinestones embellishments.
Completed Take Wing Digital Hybrid Card
Hope you enjoyed my version of this fun card and special thanks to Kay and Ron for providing the inspiration. Have a great week!

Digital Masking Inspiration in the Scrap Rap

Happy Thursday!

You know how I like to take paper crafting ideas and re-create them digitally, right? Well today my inspiration comes from Kay’s “Birds in the Moonlight” technique in the Take Wing Scrap Rap. As soon as I saw this cool idea, I knew that I had to recreate it digitally.

Here’s my finished card:

And here’s a video of how I did it:

Hope you found this video helpful! I hope you give it a try and post your creations in the Galleria at Club Scrap.

Until next week,

-Ron

New Video Tutorial - Cute Coin Envie

In case you haven't noticed, I'm really enjoying my Envelope Punch Board. It was one of those things I thought I'd never need. I can totally make my own envelope in any size by calculating just one simple measurement.

I love this thing because you can do lots more with the wee gadget than just make envelopes in a jiffy. (I really like gadgets. The useful kind. Ask my kitchen.)

So. I wanted to make a coin envelope.

Did you ever notice that coin envelopes aren't anything like regular envelopes? Since the base paper for the punchboard envelope starts out as a square, I ran into a snag because the flaps are goofy. But I solved that. I'm going to share my solution so you don't have to go to the trouble of cutting, scoring, punching, scratching your head, and sneaking all sorts of disaster attempts into the circular file.

Better yet, I'm going to share my solution with a video. Enjoy!

I used the following items:
12x12 Take Wing Lime Print
Envelope Punch Board
Adhesive
Paper Piercing Tool and Cork Board
3/4" Circle Punch
(2) Mini Brads
12" Paper Trimmer
Pen/Pencil
Bone Folder
2x8" Acrylic Grid Ruler

Creatively Yours,
Tricia

Get in Line: Digital Alignment in Photoshop

Mark your calendars, for today is a special day. It’s my first-ever digital video tutorial!

Seriously, I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now, but it was a bit overwhelming to think about doing a video - at least for me it was! But I finally bit the bullet and got it done and I must admit, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Whew!

And a very special THANK YOU to Tricia for editing my video. Hopefully, I'll learn how to do that myself very soon!

To watch the video with a few easy tricks on how to align objects in Photoshop, CLICK HERE!

Here are a couple of other examples of alignment in both cards and layouts:
Made with the Memoirs Digital Kit

One of my all time favorite kits, Cyprus! (and one of my very first digital layouts!)
I'll be back in Mykonos on July 11th, the date this blog is published. How cool is that?

You can use the alignment tools to line up photos as well as embellishments!
I hope you like the video. I think I’ll be doing more of them!

Thanks for stopping by (and watching)!
