Stencil Shadow

Picnic - "I love you so much I could squish you."

Make your stencil images pop with this clever shadow technique!

Here is how it's done . . .

1. Stencil the Tin Tiles image at an angle onto white paper using Ash Ink.

2. Move the stencil slightly to offset the image.

3. Fill in the stencil with turquoise chalk ink.

The ink was a goodie in the Artifacts Lite kit.

4. Remove the stencil to reveal the shadowed art.

5. Cut the art into four 4x5.25" panels.

6. Attach the panels to four Salsa Blue 5.5x8.5" folded cards.

7. Time to add your sentiments. Don't be afraid to mix up your kits. I chose stamps from PSL Bugs and Picnic.

8. Too much white space? Stamp a sentiment onto white paper and layer with a coordinating mat.

Picnic sentiment
Take Wing - "Make today ridiculously amazing."
There have been many amazing stencils created by Club Scrap during the past fifteen years. Which one is your favorite?

A Card Sketch Takes Wing

I liked the card sketch Julie shared earlier this week so much I couldn't wait to give it a try. In order to demonstrate how versatile the sketch could be, I used Take Wing papers. Julie created her own prints with stamping, but I was feeling a bit (ahem) lazy, so I used four 12x12 papers--two prints and two plains.

I followed Julie's cutting diagram for all four sheets and mixed and matched the different elements until pleased with the arrangement. Then I grabbed some stamps from my stash for some stamping fun. The result? Eight fun cards in about an hour! (All stamps from Take Wing, Tribal, and Fire & Ice.)

I hope you're inspired to try Julie's sketch, too. Have a creative day!

Neon Marvels Ghosting Technique

First things first, I am happy to announce the random winner of our Random Act of Kindness Day giveaway on Monday: Comment #6, Toni Burks.
This is what Toni had to say, "I would RAK my friend Ellie Fannin who is struggling with terminal brain stem cancer. I've been papercrafting with her to lift her spirits, but she is very lonely and bored because she can't do much."
Congratulations to both of you!

Remember last week I posted a fun tutorial called the Metallic Marvels Ghosting Technique? After trying it with the metallic inks, I wanted to try the same technique with Club Scrap's Neon Dabbers. Here are the BOLD results.

Neon Pink Metallics Combo
Step 1. Make puddles of Neon Pink dabber ink and gold and copper metallic re-inkers on glossy cardstock. Roll with rubber brayer.

Step 2. Stamp Tribal medallion image onto wet inks and slide to create ghosting effect.

Step 3. Stamp inked medallion onto plain white cardstock.

Step 4. Allow panels to air-dry completely, or use a heat tool. Finish cards using the panels you created.

Neon Green & Blue
Step 1. Make puddles of Neon Blue and Green dabber inks on glossy cardstock. Roll with rubber brayer.

Step 2. Stamp various images from Time of Your Life  onto wet inks and slide to create ghosting effect.

Step 3. Stamp inked images onto plain white cardstock.

Step 4. Allow panels to air-dry completely, or use a heat tool. Finish cards using the panels you created.

Neon Dabber Metal Medallions
Step 1. Use white acrylic paint to cover metal medallions. Allow to dry.

Step 2. Apply Neon Pink ink dabber and Gold Metallic Re-inker to medallion. Use your fingertip to blend.

Step 3. Allow to dry. Use Emery board or sand paper to remove ink from the raised areas.

Step 4. Repeat steps using Neon Green.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed the tutorials.

Neon Card Mash Ups

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

I missed you all last week. While I was away from the blog, I was busy creating this colorful array of cards using a "Mash Up" of kits. I created backgrounds using an art orphan and print outs from this month's Graffiti digital kit. I used papers from the Science kit (the orange/yellow, blue, and purple) that worked so well with the prints from this month's kit and an assortment of past kit stamps.

So sit back and relax while I take you on a little tour of how I created some of my cards.

1. Print out the black and white digital print from the Graffiti Digital kit.
before
2. Grab your Neon Dabbers and color to your hearts content! I had so much fun with this. I added a bit of white paint dauber swipes to areas that were too dull gray for my liking. It lightened the piece up a bit.

3. Let your paper dry and then add interest to your colored piece using a white Uni-ball Signo Broad pigment ink pen.
After
4. Print out some of the other colorful prints to use for backgrounds for your cards on matte photo paper.
5. Marya and Anne Marie host a card sketch challenge on the Club Scrap Community Forum and I created these cards using tissue tape colored with Neon Dabbers. I also used the fun mini chalkboard as my template for the hole to be cut out of the front of the card.
6. Stamp the "you are 2 COOL" images in white dauber paint (make sure you clean off your stamps so the paint doesn't dry on them) and add a bit of Neon Pink Dabber ink to the outside edge of the chalkboard. Trace the chalkboard with white pen and cut with a craft knife.
7. Save the cut out to be used on a second card. Check out this LINK to learn how to create a dimensional star. Do you recognize this art orphan I used for the background paper? It was created using the plastic wrap technique I shared on a previous blog post which you can find HERE. Stamp the Take Wing greeting directly onto the background paper.

8. Stamp the Graffiti spritz drip image in all the Neon Dabber colors to create this rainbow effect.  Stamp directly over the image when dry using black ink using the Take Wing stamps.
9. Now it is time to create your A2 cards. Cut black and white 8.5x11" cardstock horizontally at 5.5 and score each 5.5x8.5" piece horizontally at 4.25".  This will result in two A2 size greeting card bases from each sheet of cardstock.

Here are all the cards I created using the above techniques.
