Cinema Blog Hop

Welcome to the hop! Today's blogger projects star Club Scrap's August Cinema collection.

Last year at our annual Retreat, I taught an altered composition notebook project. Ever since then, I've been enamored with the concept . . . how something so simple, so utilitarian, can be easily transformed into something special and fun. And with it being back-to-school time, these handy notebooks are readily available at a great deal.

My children spend many a Friday night with my parents. It's a tradition started long ago when they were babies. Mom said the key to a healthy marriage is "date night" and her gift was Friday night sleepovers. (Thanks, Mom and Dad!) Friday night at Gma and Gpa's usually involves watching the latest DVD releases or playing board games--or both!

I thought it would be fun for Hunter, Emma and Max to keep record of the movies they've seen, maybe even jot down notes or "reviews" of the movies. That's where this twist on the typical altered comp book comes in. Here's how it's done:

Use a craft knife, cutting mat, ruler (and lots of elbow grease) to cut comp book in half.
Spread bookbinding glue onto front cover surface with foam brush; add paper.
Flip cover over and trim away excess paper with craft knife and cutting mat.
Spread bookbinding glue on inside cover. Add paper, leaving
a 1/2-inch gutter between paper and spine. Trim away excess.
Embellish as desired.
I decorated the front cover by adding CS Cinema ribbon near the binding, washi tape along the bottom edge, and Cinema Lite Alphabeans stickers matted on a black strip. I also added the beautiful blue velvet ribbon to create a "bookmark" of sorts.

I used the other half of the comp book to create a log for game nights, using papers and fibers
from our Big Deal collection, Cinema Lite Alphabeans stickers and scrabble tile stickers from my stash.

There you have it! Two fun-sized journals/logs for the price of one. Are you ready to see what our other bloggers have in store for us? Julie at Cape Cod Scrapper is up next. If you get lost along the way, there's a complete Hop list below. Enjoy!

Card Trio--Oopsie Daisy Blog Hop

Welcome to the blog hop! Today seventeen bloggers share awesome cards, pages and projects featuring Club Scrap's July collection.

I recently finished my Oopsie Daisy Greetings to Go, but I'm still on a card making roll. What's a girl to do? Time for a little Pinspiration! Below is a trio of Oopsie Daisy cards inspired by my Pinterest visit.

Flower stamped, only half colored in watercolor pencil, trimmed with a craft knife.
Acrylic block frame in Leaf. Die cut flower folded in half with free-hand cut center.
UM stamped stem with watercolor pencil.
Trim your own "stencil" using a scrap of cardstock and a circle cutter.
Mask the daisy image before inking with Topaz ink. White and green watercolor pencils, India ink.
Shall we check out what our other bloggers are up to? Julie at Cape Cod Scrapper is next. If you get lost along the way, a complete list of bloggers is below:

This Hop is a real Picnic!

Welcome hoppers! You are in for a treat today. We have 17 talented bloggers on hand sharing their creations made using the June Picnic collection.

Each year, Kay's daughter Marilee hosts a lemonade stand to coincide with an art festival in town. For many years, my daughter Emma has had the pleasure of being Marilee's sidekick. Kay always documents the event with wonderful photos, and I knew last year's pics would be perfect with Picnic!

Pages created using Picnic CS papers and Layout Card from Trees.
Add dimension with Pop Dots and a touch of sparkle on the ice cube with Stickles.
Picnic Lite Thickers custom-tinted with appropriately-named "Mango Lemonade" Memories Mist.

I couldn't resist making a few cards, too. My stash is severely depleted and I need to restock for my monthly Birthday Club card swap. By the way, we'd love to have you join us . . . there's nothing like getting a dozen or more beautiful cards from your fellow paper addicts crafters for your birthday!

A blatant scrap-lift of Janet's Greetings to Go card. I love the "bite" mark!

More fun with Pop Dots!
This sentiment from an old Aurora Borealis stamp sheet makes me giggle.

I don't know about you, but I'm having a blast with the Picnic kit. Are you ready to hop on over to the next blogger? Julie is next over at Cape Cod Scrapper, and there's a complete list below just in case you get lost along the way.

Dungarees Blog Hop

It's blog hop time! Thanks for hopping along with us today.

I'm still on a mini album kick. I started this Passport to Fun project at the beginning of the month, but travel and general busy-ness kept me from completing it until now.

This is a variation on the original instructions . . . instead of A7 envelopes, I tried my luck with 3-1/2 x 6-1/2" coin envelopes. The goldenrod color worked well with the colors in the Dungarees collection. I connected the envelopes using their flaps, which in the case of these envelopes, created a horizontal orientation. The mattes are 3.25 x 6.25", which means I only had to crop an inch off my photos (horizontally) to make them work for this mini book.

I kept the cover simple because I haven't worked out the closure yet.
I know I want to use the button, though. I'm open to suggestions!

Embellishments added from the CS and Lite Cutaparts.

I added more inside pages with a simple pamphlet stitch. That garment tag is so much fun!

Love that Dungarees Lite Washi Tape!

Sentiments and quotes from the Dungarees unmounted stamps add the right finishing touch.
I just love the versatility of these envelope-based mini albums. Lots of pockets for memorabilia and display for more photos than you can imagine. I think I'm addicted!

It's Hydrangeas Blog Hop time!

Welcome to the Hydrangeas hop! You're in for a real treat today; we have eighteen talented bloggers sharing their projects made with the May 2014 collection.

Last weekend was my son's Junior Prom. He took his friend Samantha; they both looked so nice all dressed up for the occasion. My friend Aimee took a LOT of photos of Hunter, Samantha and a few of their friends. I wanted a special way for Hunter to give a set of prints to Samantha, so I made this accordion-style mini book based on a Retreat project from 2012, the Passport to Fun.

Five envelopes are attached to each other by the flaps and accordion-folded to create a booklet. Exposed sections of each envelope are matted with cardstock. Each envelope pocket holds a 5x7" matte for photos. I added two 10x7" papers, each folded in half and pamphlet-stitched inside to hold additional pictures. I used Cutaparts, rubber stamps and pearl stickers to embellish the booklet. I also added some die cut flowers made from Hydrangeas cardstock using my Sizzix Big Shot.

The flap on the fifth envie forms the front cover; inside flap with stamped sentiment.
Accordion extended to show interior.
Inside pockets and pamphlet-stitched inside pages hold photos.
Close-up of pamphlet-stitched pages.
Close-up of envelope pocket with photo double matted on 5x7" cardstock.
Photos provided by Aimee Johnson.

Do you think she'll like it?

Trees Blog Hop

I haven't done much scrapbooking lately. Actually, I think the last scrapbook page I made was for the Fire & Ice Blog Hop in November! How sad is that? (It's especially embarrassing when I work for a company that makes scrapbooking materials.)

I decided it was time for a change, so my Trees Blog Hop "project" was finishing my Trees Club Scrap Assembly Line Scrapbooking pages . . . all fourteen of them!

My father purchased a new camera last fall, and since then he's been taking hundreds of pictures. He walks the nature trails in our local park almost daily and has frequent encounters with the local flora and fauna. I thought the Trees collection would showcase his photographs perfectly!

Snow covered trees in Heesakker Park. We have had near-record snowfall this winter.

If you're ready to Hop, you can get started right away--the rest of my completed ALSB pages are below the Hop list, if you're interested. :0)

We have a wonderful line-up of talented bloggers for you. Each blog will link you to the next, but if you get lost along the way, you can always stop back here at Club Scrap Creates for the full listing.

The bridge that connects the main park to the island crosses over a canal that leads to the Locks.

Backyard birds at Dad's feeders. My parents live on a beautiful wooded lot next to the park.

Bald eagles are making a huge comeback along the Fox River. We are blessed with sightings almost daily.

Mute swans swimming in the open water in the Fox River just East of the dam.

Lots of deer live in the park and the surrounding woods. It's not unusual for Dad to see 10-12 at a time.

Snowy owls spotted in fields in the nearby town of Freedom. Sightings were being reported on our local news.

I hope you enjoyed this little nature-walk with my dad and his camera. I can't wait to show him the pages in person! (All photographs courtesy of Michael Chaffey.)

Wishing you a creative day!

Big Deal Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Big Deal Blog Hop, where our bloggers are celebrating the February Club Scrap kit!

My project was inspired by a favorite Big Deal quote from the Borders & Backgrounds UM. I thought it would be fun to feature the quote on an altered 6x6 canvas I could display on my desk at the office.

I trimmed the center from a 6x6" piece of Ivory CS Print and glued it to the back side of the canvas. I added stamped accents, a die cut Bingo chip, mini Scrabble tile stickers and a wooden domino for embellishments. The chipboard "3." is from Let Me Count the Ways.

I decorated both sides, so visitors coming into the office could enjoy the view as well.

This side was created using the Big Deal Lite Stencil and red pigment ink spray, over-sprayed with white pigment ink using Versailles Mask. I added the Short Sleeve Pants Harlequin image stamped with black acrylic paint. The wooden ruler is from a past Workbench project. The dice, wooden disc (stamped with crown from Art Nouveau UM) and domino are from my stash.

It's Graffiti Blog Hop Time

Welcome to the Graffiti Blog Hop!

I've been having a great time playing with Graffiti . . . did you know this collection goes with almost everything? To prove my point, check out the cards I whipped up this week:

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I thought I'd see how well the Graffiti Stencil and the Love Bites stamps would play together. I think it's a match made in heaven!

I thought this card would be fun for my niece who turns 17 on Saturday. You might not notice it right away, but the background stamp on this card is a border stamp from the Hopes FontArt UM. It reminded me of chain link fencing. Cool eh?

I just love that Graffiti Art stamp, and it was perfect for this resist technique with the Green and Blue Neon Ink Pads. I paired it with a sentiment stamp from the Fire & Ice FontArt UM.

Can you guess what vintage kit elements I used for this card? You might not recognize them right away. I started with a Graffiti Print panel, overstamped with a huge text stamp from Up, Up & Away. Then I used white acrylic paint with the circle pattern on Fizz Stencil. I traced the arrow image from the Mirror, Mirror Stencil onto Graffiti pink, and cut it out with a craft knife. Finally Fizz pink brads added just the right finishing touch.

I encourage you to see what mixin' and matchin' you can do with your Graffiti kit and collections from the past. It's great fun!
