It's a Tall Order (New Formula!)

I really like "tall" cards. You know--the size made when you tri-fold an 8.5x11 piece of paper? Someone once said in the community forum that they did not particularly care for tall cards because they weren't sure what to do with them. For starters, the envelopes are easy to find, and the size really works well with 8.5x11 and 12x12 paper cutting formulas.

I thought it might be fun to feature images from the Come Sail Away collection with some No. 9 cards so that you can see how quickly and easily they can come together! This batch of cards was designed to work specifically with the nifty text on the Come Sail Away Unmounted FontArt sheet.

Ingredients:

(3) 12x12 Papers (Color A, B and C) - Serenity Dark Blue, Yellow and White Pattern Plains

(3) 8.5x11 Papers (Color D, E and F) - Serenity Light Blue, Dark Gray and Light Gray Plains

12" Tonic Trimmer

Time to cut. Use your smarticles, folks, it's a "tall order". ha ha. (groan.)

Trim 12x12 Paper A, B and C at 11.75 and 8.5". Trim the 8.5x12 horizontally at 11.5, 9.25 and 7". Cut each 2.25x8.5 horizontally at 7.75". Trim the .5x7.5 horizontally at 7.75". Cut the 3.25x12 horizontally at 8.25". Score the 7x8.5 vertically at 3.5" and fold into a card.

Cut 8.5x11 Paper D, E, and F horizontally at 10.25 and 7". Trim the 3.25x8.5 horizontally at 8.25. Cut the .75x8.5 horizontally at 8.25". Score the 7x8.5 vertically at 3.5" and fold in half.

Use a CS® Grid Ruler as a mounting block for those nifty, long text strips on the FontArt sheet. Stamp onto the 2.25x7.75" panels. After that, it's simply a matter of choosing how to mix 'n match all of the paper colors, stamped panels, and anchoring strips.

And a few of the details . . . it's so much fun to grab items from my stash of embellishments! Jewels, Dazzles, fibers, brads, etc. Just a little thing here 'n there makes a big difference.

How About a Little Pinspiration?

Okay, Club Scrap Creates! has been going strong since May and I've been posting every week since we started. Normally, I really enjoy coming up with something new to chat about, but this week, I was at a loss - I didn't have an idea about what to write (and I really didn't have time to write a digital tutorial - it's just been one of those weeks!), so when I got home from work today (um, it's Wednesday, so I needed to come up with something!), I pointed my browser to Pinterest - I thought if I spent a few minutes hours browsing, I might come up with an idea.

I decided to do a search for 'Club Scrap' just to see what would come up and, WOW - such wonderful things showed up!! Yes, a lot of the photos are directly from Club Scrap - cards made by Tricia and projects made by Kay (and even a few digital layouts of mine!) showed up, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of cool photos from other places - all using Club Scrap products!

So for your review, here are just a few of the really beautiful things I found…

First up, this nifty card by Lisa Dolezal using the Wildflowers kit:

Wildflowers is one of my favorite kits - I just love the imagery, don't you?

Next, is this great digital layout by Cathy Gray:

This is the Come Sail Away Digital kit and I love how Cathy blended the sailboat image with the photo - so cool!

Cindy made a couple of wonderful cards using a stamp from the Full Circle kit. This photo is in the Club Scrap® Galleria, but I managed to miss it - so glad I found it on Pinterest!

Cindy used colors that are so different from the Full Circle palette, but it really pops - well done!

BobbiesGirl from Splitcoast Stampers created this amazing card using one of my favorite stamps from Nature's Wonders:

I love the technique and will definitely be stealing borrowing it as soon as I have a chance to spend some time in my craft room!

Last, but certainly not least, here's a terrific calendar project from Deb Charlesworth:

She used Comfort Zone (another favorite of mine!) to make it - this would make a great gift for someone this holiday season!

Perusing Picture Perfect Projects

Hi, it's Thursday, so it's me, Ron, here to chat with you  today. (BTW, I worked extra-hard to come up with an alliterative title for today's post!)

A few weeks ago, I took a stroll through the Galleria during the Pro Scrappers League (PSL) Summer Camp, and I shared some really cool paper layouts, cards, and digital layouts that I found. Well, this week, I decided to just look at projects in the Galleria. I really love making projects, but I've been so busy lately, that I haven't really had any time to make anything, but I thought that a nice leisurely Galleria stroll, checking out all the really great projects would be the next best thing.

And, WOW! -- I wasn't disappointed!

Here are 5 really great projects from this year (and there are several years' with of projects there, so there's an endless amount of inspiration!):

Next up, Cyndy made this great 5 x 7 Expandable Folder using materials from the Bon Appetit kit. I love how she decorated it with all those cool die-cut flowers.

This Flip Flop Photo Frame from the Tahiti Kit was made by Rhonda Vlahos - such a cute project. Rhonda and her husband, George, travel to the US from Australia each year so that Rhonda can attend  Retreat in Wisconsin - it was so great seeing them a couple of weeks ago!

Cathy Gray did an outstanding job making the Tri-Panel Navajo Project - what an amazing project! (I also got to meet Cathy and Mark Gray at Retreat this year - so nice to finally meet them in person after chatting with them in the forums for a few years!)

Finally, don't you just love this colorful tag book made by Esther using the Full Circle kit? I just love these colors!!
