March 2014 - Trees Collection

Wave hello to your new collection for March . . . Trees!

A Note from Tricia
I'm still basking in the post-expo glow following my return from Texas. I go through an interesting cycle of emotions that coincide with every scheduled show. Have we thought of everything and packed well? Will the materials ship and arrive on time? Will people register for our workshops or stop in at the booth? Will my flights run on schedule?

Par for the course, Delta called on Wednesday to let me know that my Thursday morning flight to Texas had been canceled, so I packed and left for the airport that evening. Fortunately, I arrived safely on Thursday morning along with all of the booth materials and my awesome helper for the weekend, Jane McAshan.

My favorite part of the whole experience is teaching our Efficient Scrapbooking workshops. The response from students is invigorating and affirming. The process completely changes the way people feel about their craft. They leave the classroom empowered, encouraged and inspired. And that is what it's all about. This works. It really works. And it brings me such joy to be able to help people approach their scrapbooking with confidence.

We are so happy to welcome our new Texas area members to the family. Our next stop is at the Columbus, Ohio, Memories Expo. Have we packed well? Will the booth supplies ship and arrive on time? Will my flights be on schedule? And so we begin again . . .

What's Ahead?
We're all beyond ready for the blossoms of springtime. Soon the Hydrangeas will be in full bloom. Prepare for fresh, clean colors and another great batch of specialty textures in this cheerful collection.

PSL Galleria Stroll

Happy Valentine's Day! Ron here to share some love in the form of some Galleria inspiration for you this week.

As many of you may know, Club Scrap's Winter PSL started this week, so I thought I'd take a stroll through the Galleria and see what treasures I could find! It was difficult to limit my choices 'cuz there's just so much cool stuff there, but I picked 6 to share - 2 paper layouts, 2 digital layouts and 2 cards (1 paper and 1 digital!).

I really love this layout by EDelValle; she used the über-cool Short Sleeve Pants papers and set everything on an angle for a great look!

This beauty is from dianelynn - it's simple, but stunning and I love how she used Belle's autograph for the journalling. Brilliant!

This digi layout was made by ChrisR - while it's a fairly simple layout, it's very dramatic - the background pattern mimics the pattern in Nick's face-painted mask perfectly!

AnnetteD created this wonderful layout - it's a great photo arrangement and the colors just work so well together. Well done!

This amazing Valentines day card was made by pfkish. I love the dimension - both inside and out! Molly is gonna love it!

janieinMN did a fantastic job using the Up, Up, & Away digi kit to create this stunning Valentine's Day card!

So there you have it - a quick stroll (well, as quick as any Galleria stroll can be - it's kind of like Pinterest - where does the time go?!) and some amazing inspiration. If you have a few minutes (or hours, as the case may be!) take a stroll of your own - ya never know what you might find!

Now use that inspiration and create something wonderful of your own! (There might still be time for you to make something for your favorite Valentine if you haven't shopped yet!)

Stencil Spoiler Alert!

Wow, the beads are blowing off the Club Scrap shelves, what a great bead sale! I am sad to see them go, but will certainly keeping using them in my projects. Club Scrap still has some great seed beads still available in past month's Embellishment Cups, great for paper crafting!

Speaking of using beading in papercrafting......what do 'ya think of beads stitched on this NEW COOL STENCIL???

I grabbed the Cruisin' Embellishment cup from my own stash and put it to work while creating a stenciled card for the upcoming Up, Up and Away! Junior Rap. I just love this stencil and can't wait for the Junior Members to receive it soon. Hey, it's shipping soon, but you still have time to add the Feb Junior Bundle to your March Club Scrap Kit shipment - our new fun way to save some cash on shipping!

The stencil is really fun on its own and will be great for pages and cards, but it's also great for embellishing.

I had to make more than one card using this stencil...stay tuned to the Up, Up & Away! Scrap Rap coming on the 15th for more details!

Have a great weekend! Hope you find some time to be creative!
Thanks for stopping by,
Kay at Club Scrap :)

Revisiting Masking

Creative Friday greetings to you!
Masking is one of my favorite techniques when using Club Scrap Unmounted Rubber Stamps!

Since we're talkin' stamping techniques this week, thought I would revisit this card I made with Club Scrap's Postcards To Paris Unmounted Stamp sheet.

For anyone new to rubber stamping, masking is simply a way to keep areas of your card panel free and clean from other stamping. This rectangular Eiffel Towel image was easy to stamp onto a scrap and trim out with a scissors, creating the mask. Then I placed it onto the same stamped image on my card panel and continued to stamp around it.

Time to add some color, and continue using the masking technique.

After trimming out an L-shaped mask, I covered the area outside of the rectangle and sponged Club Scrap Topaz and Sapphire Inks with the foam applicator, moving the mask as I made my way around.

While masking off the inside rectangular area, I added Earth Ink around
 the rectangular image.

Here it is, the finished card. I think "masking" is one of my favorite stamping techniques!

As always, thanks for stopping to look!

Who doesn't enjoy designer sheets?

Who doesn't enjoy designer sheets?  ...well, sheets of lovely cardstock designed just for you at Club Scrap that is! ...they are on sale right now!!!
One of my old favorite kit designs at Club Scrap is Extra, Extra. The other day, in the Club Scrap warehouse, I came accross this grey Extra, Extra Remix print that wasn't posted in GHM yet.

I so enjoy this type of design and had to make a layout with it. Thinking the design in more masculine, so perfect to house my Dad, brother and nephew:)

Also, I'm still enjoying Navajo's 12x12 sheet of calendar pages. I used a craft knife and grid ruler for trimming and I'll leave the other months intact to use later.

Off to get more designer sheets into my scrapbook, enjoy the sale!!

Sneaky Peeky!

Creative Friday Greetings!

Are you up for a little sneaky peeky of what's in store for January?

I'm really excited about the Random Doorways kit that will be upon us all very soon. I've gotten to play around with a couple pieces from the upcoming collection before it ships, and also, to take photos of the Random Doorways creations Tricia has done already. So here are nine sneak peeks all at one glance.

The stamp images & papers are so fun. I love the Font UM, the project, the cutaparts in the Embellishment Pack (I could go on and on) - we are having so much fun with it all, already!
So here's to hoping you enjoy it as much as I do!

Thanks for looking & enjoy your day!
Wishing you a very happy 2013!!!

My Favorite Junior Kit Alpha Stickers

Sing it with me . . . "On The Nineth Day Of Giveaways Club Scrap Gave To Me . . . a Just Dandy JR Kit (so be sure to comment on this blog post to have a chance on winning)!

Since the JR Just Dandy Kit contains my favorite Alpha Sticker sheet, I just had to whip up this easy layout featuring those little gems.

The word stickers on this sheet have such sweet sayings that can be used all together like I did here, or separately would be nice. too. I mounted mine on brown card stock to give 'em a little extra definition.

Oops . . .  I just read my layout a little more carefully and see I still have some word rearranging to do in the last phrase heheee, but totally love these stickers.

Okay, it's time for another "12 Days of Giveaways!" We'll give away a Jr Just Dandy Kit to one lucky winner, chosen at random, from those who write comments on today's post, through midnight tonight(CS/Central time).

As always, thanks for looking and enjoy the giveaways!

Wrap It Up!

Hi everyone! Ron from Club Scrap here with another last minute Christmas idea - last week you'll remember that I was busy working on my Christmas cards. I'm happy to report that those are done and finally in the mail! So this week, I'm wrapping a few gifts. I only have a few gifts to wrap this year, but I wanted to make sure that they look nice and sort of match my Christmas cards (hey, I'm a paper crafter and those things are important to me - but then, I really don't have to explain that to you folks, right?!?!). This idea will work for Christmas, or any other time that you need to wrap a gift quickly!

So first up, home-made gift tags - really easy with a sheet of CS paper, a pair of scissors and a hole punch! I used a sheet of Full Circle Green, but any color will do, really. Here's how I cut my tags:

These tags are 1.5x3, so you can get 32 from 1 sheet of 12x12 with no waste! Start by cutting a 12x12 at 9, 6 and 3. Then stack 2 strips and cut at 10½, 9, 7½, 6, 4½, 3, and 1½. Repeat with the other 2 stacked strips. Quick as a wink, 32 rectangles!

Once you've got all the tags cut, use your scissors to cut the corners off of 2 edges so that it resembles a manilla tag - don't fret over it being perfect, these are small enough to just 'eyeball' the cut. Next, punch a hole in the tag.

I stamped a snowflake on the tag (making sure to stamp partially off the tag, just for interest), using the CS Pigment White ink pad.

To wrap my gifts, I decided on plain brown kraft paper this year - it matches my cards and I really like the look - I buy it by the roll at the office store and use it as wrapping paper all the time! For ribbon, I went to my trusty baker's twine - just enough of a holiday look for me, but really - grosgrain, satin, twine, raffia, yarn - they all work and I've used them at various times in the past. The kraft paper really goes with anything - one of the reasons it's my 'go to' wrapping paper in a pinch!

And here's the finished gift - simple, but elegant, I think!

Okay, it's time for another "12 Days of Giveaways!" We'll give away a Club kit to one lucky winner, chosen at random, from those who write comments on today's post, through midnight (CS/Central time), each day.

Today's prize is a Bon Appetit Club Stamp Kit with Project. To qualify for this giveaway, simply leave a comment below, by midnight tonight (Thursday, Dec. 20th). A winner will be chosen at random and will be announced here tomorrow morning.

Now go and create something wonderful - then wrap it up and give it to someone you love! Happy Holidays!!!

Let's make Some Christmas Cards!

Happy Thursday! Ron here with a quick formula for making your holiday cards this year. Yeah, I know it's already December 13th, but this year just got away from me - so many things to get done and not enough hours in the day many times. I'm not complaining - I've had so much fun this year and being busy is great, but before I knew it, it was December, and I hadn't started making my Christmas cards yet! What's a crafter to do? Buckle down, and git 'em done, that's what!

I actually had a really cool idea for a card - I saw some fir trees made out of paper on Pinterest and thought I could make those for the front of my card - Jac and I even talked about it in October, but talking about it is as far as I got. By the time December 1st rolled around, I realized that I'd have to shelve that idea until next year and come up with something simpler.

I do a lot of my creative thinking while driving to and from work each day - it's the same route everyday and I can come up with some good stuff in that half hour commute, so on the morning of Dec 3rd, I designed a simple card in my head while I was driving. That afternoon during my lunch break, I searched GHM! for the papers that I'd need and quickly placed an order for a few things (including the WOW Holiday UM sheet for this year - after all, I'd need a sentiment stamp for the inside of the card, right?).

My order arrived on Saturday (those fine folks at the Mothership are so speedy! Thanks, Beth & Deb!!) and I got to work. First the Tan 12X12  from Comfort Zone - this would become the card base. I had purchased a box of 250 A6 envelopes a few years ago, so this year's card would be 4X6. I quickly scored and cut 20 sheets of paper to make 60 cards (yeah, I make about 60 cards each year for Christmas). Tricia taught me that if you score before you cut, you save a bunch of time - I only had to score 20 times for these cards! Here's my scoring and cutting diagram:

Next was a small green panel for the front - I chose the green from Full Circle - it's a nice muddy green - I was going for a subdued look this year. I needed pieces that were 2¼X6, so this is how I cut them:

I started with the 6 inch cut, then stacked the 2 6X12s and cut both at the same time with my trusty 12" Tonic Trimmer at 11¼, 9, 6¾, 4½, and 2¼ - 10 panels per sheet, so I only needed 6 sheets of paper for this. (And very little waste - just a couple of 6X¾ strips per sheet - which I know you could all come up with a use for!)

Lastly, I cut some Equestrian Ivory card stock into 2¾ inch squares and stamped them with a snowflake from the 2010 Silent Night Kit using Earth ink. I inked all the edges with the Earth ink, too - love those inked edges! Here's how I cut those squares:

I start by trimming the paper down to 11X11, then cut at 8¼, 5½, and 2¾. Then cut each of the strips using the same measurements. Easy-peasy!

I decided that the front of the card needed a little pop of color, so I opted for some red & white baker's twine (just happened to have a spool of it on my craft table!). Finally I stamped the inside and the back ('cuz they're homemade by me, after all!). Now I just have to sign them, write out the envelopes, and get 'em into the mail (um, once I go to the Post Office to buy the stamps!). With any luck, I'll still manage to get 'em into the mail in a few days. Some folks might even get them before Christmas!

Here's the finished card:

Whew! I usually don't wait this long to make my cards, but it's nice to know that it is possible to create some nice (and fairly easy) cards in record time - thanks to the fast service at CS® and some careful cutting!

In celebration of the upcoming holidays, the Club Scrap Creates! Blog is hosting "12 Days of Giveaways!" For 12 days (from Dec 11-23), we'll give away a Club kit to one lucky winner, chosen at random, from those who write comments on the post, through midnight (CS/Central time), each day.

Today's prize is a Comfort Zone Club Stamp Kit with Project. To qualify for this giveaway, simply leave a comment below, by midnight tonight (Thursday, Dec. 13th). A winner will be chosen at random and will be announced here tomorrow morning.

That's it for this week - now go and create something wonderful

Checkin' Out the Nekkid Variations

Creative Greetings from Kay here at Club Scrap!

As some of you know, Club Scrap often creates paperless project kits. So, we can all have the cut-to-size book board, matte board, and other needed components, but use our own favorite papers to finish off the project. Basically it's a paperless/naked project kit. Of course I think this is a really exciting option. Just recently in GHM is the Nekkid WOW Holiday Keepsakes Book Project, the Nekkid Retreat Altered Panel Book, and the Nekkid Retreat Letters On The Wall Projects.
Here is my naked (well, no longer naked now) WOW Holiday Keepsakes Project done up in old dictionary papers on the outside cover, and black cardstock from my own stash for the inside accordion.

Just like the WOW Holiday Keepsakes Project that includes the coordinating papers in that big beautiful WOW Holiday shipment, I had so much fun decorating this project.

Hoping you are also enjoying the nekkid project variations as much as I am!!

Wishing you happy crafting!
Kay from Club Scrap

How About a Little Pinspiration?

Okay, Club Scrap Creates! has been going strong since May and I've been posting every week since we started. Normally, I really enjoy coming up with something new to chat about, but this week, I was at a loss - I didn't have an idea about what to write (and I really didn't have time to write a digital tutorial - it's just been one of those weeks!), so when I got home from work today (um, it's Wednesday, so I needed to come up with something!), I pointed my browser to Pinterest - I thought if I spent a few minutes hours browsing, I might come up with an idea.

I decided to do a search for 'Club Scrap' just to see what would come up and, WOW - such wonderful things showed up!! Yes, a lot of the photos are directly from Club Scrap - cards made by Tricia and projects made by Kay (and even a few digital layouts of mine!) showed up, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of cool photos from other places - all using Club Scrap products!

So for your review, here are just a few of the really beautiful things I found…

First up, this nifty card by Lisa Dolezal using the Wildflowers kit:

Wildflowers is one of my favorite kits - I just love the imagery, don't you?

Next, is this great digital layout by Cathy Gray:

This is the Come Sail Away Digital kit and I love how Cathy blended the sailboat image with the photo - so cool!

Cindy made a couple of wonderful cards using a stamp from the Full Circle kit. This photo is in the Club Scrap® Galleria, but I managed to miss it - so glad I found it on Pinterest!

Cindy used colors that are so different from the Full Circle palette, but it really pops - well done!

BobbiesGirl from Splitcoast Stampers created this amazing card using one of my favorite stamps from Nature's Wonders:

I love the technique and will definitely be stealing borrowing it as soon as I have a chance to spend some time in my craft room!

Last, but certainly not least, here's a terrific calendar project from Deb Charlesworth:

She used Comfort Zone (another favorite of mine!) to make it - this would make a great gift for someone this holiday season!

I've just scratched the surface with these 5 offerings. I hope they've 'pinsipred' you to create something wonderful. And if you've got a few minutes hours to spare, go to Pinterest and see what you find - it's amazing!

See you next week!

Hybrid Gift Giving

Happy Thursday! Ron here with a quick hybrid gift idea for you.

With the holidays fast approaching, you want to be able to make some quick gifts for family and friends, right? How about a 2013 calendar? And not just any calendar, but one that you can customize with photos! And, if you've got a little bit of digital patience, you can even add some special dates (like birthdays and anniversaries) to the calendar!

Club Scrap® has a super cool digital calendar this year - it's set up like a Quick Drop Digital Layout, so it's really easy to add photos to each month. And each month is based on the monthly kits from 2012, so you know they're gonna be gorgeous, right? They're sized to fit on 8.5 x 11 paper, so you could even print 'em at home in a pinch (or just save 'em all to a thumb drive and bring 'em to your local copy shop and they can make as many copies as you need!). Punch a couple of holes at the top and add a bit of fiber and you've got a really cool gift that lasts the whole year. How easy is that?

You know you want a set, right? Head on over HERE and get 'em and make some quick gifts. Your family and friends will love them!

Now go and create something wonderful!
