Dungarees Greetings to Go Guest Artist

Last fall, Ruth Ann originally suggested the theme that eventually became our May collection, so we asked her to be our Guest Artist for May's Dungarees Greetings to GoTake it away, Ruth Ann!

I'm very excited about this kit! It feels like I've been waiting forever for it. With eight grandsons it's perfect!

The stitching pattern in the corners was done with a Timeless Touches template.
I attached most of the buttons to the cards with stitching.
The most difficult part was finding a needle with an eye big enough for the thread or fiber,
but small enough in diameter to go through the button!

Since the kit didn't have plaid flannel paper, I felt like it was calling out for a t-shirt or two. The English Garden Library Card Pocket stencil makes a great t-shirt -- if you ignore the fold lines and shorten it a bit.

I dug out a couple of embossing folders and ink to "decorate" a couple of the shirts. (I'm happy to see that my plaid flannel idea made it into Dungarees digital, though!)

The small flower stamps on this shirt are from the We Are Aware UM.

I should thank Jac for the Retreat class when she taught me how to use a craft knife. I needed that skill to cut around the overalls so I could put the t-shirt underneath and the fiber "belt" through the loops. (I think I was the only one in the class who required a band-aid. Ironically, I cut myself putting the cap back on the knife!)

I felt like the pockets were calling out to hold something. Since there are several gift-giving occasions this time of year, I used a gift card in one and a seed packet in another.

Although I purchased the seeds, I think it would work equally well, or even better, to make your own seed packet using the Farmer's Market stencil, if you have it. Then you could put a smaller gift inside that!

The Dungarees stamps feature fun images and phrases.

The Greetings to Go Cutaparts and elements from the Embellishment Pack make putting cards together super easy:

Other than the fact that I felt totally incompetent and worried the entire time that I was working on them that they would be the worst Greetings to Go cards ever done by a guest artist, I'm pretty happy with the way the cards turned out. (And, just for the record, I want you to know that my overalls had a belt before I saw Tricia's card with the same treatment!)

Greetings to Go Guest Artists are given the current month's Club Scrap materials to work with:
  • Greetings to Go Pack
  • Embellishment Pack
  • Collection Unmounted Rubber Stamp sheet
  • Greeting Unmounted Rubber Stamp sheet
  • Art Nouveau Unmounted Rubber Stamp sheet
  • Extra 8.5 x 11" plain papers from the monthly kit
The artist may also choose to incorporate items from their own craft stash, as well as different inks and art mediums. We do our best to make note these additions in the card descriptions whenever possible.

  14. All the cards are great Ruth Ann. The T shirt idea is fabulous. I think I need a lesson from Jac on using a craft knife. I've never quite gotten that mastered.

  16. Amazing job on the cards -- I'm going to use the "with boys...Hurricane" to make a congratulations card for my niece who just found out they are expecting a boy this fall. Also, what a great idea to see a T-shirt in the English Garden Library Card Pocket stencil. Thanks for the inspiration.
