The Masked Drop Shadow Technique

Academy stamps are perfect for back-to-school cards!

Now that most students are back in action, it's a great time to send a "Good Luck" card. I just happened to have my Academy wood mounted stamps handy and started collage-stamping on a 5x7 card panel.

Cutting a mask (from recycled copy paper) with our Academy Memoranda Stamp was easy because it's pretty close to a rectangle. No time for fussy cutting today! The paper mask makes it possible to stamp a second layer over the first stamped image without covering it. So handy!

Check out how great the mask works when I sponge an inked shadow around the image with our awesome foam applicator. It's like adding a drop shadow in PhotoShop, except without a computer. And without PhotoShop. LOL.

For the sentiment, I grabbed my tried 'n true "Good Luck" stamp from the Wild, Wild West collection and stapled it onto the card panel.

The Academy Memoranda, Book Plate, and Progress Report stamps made the perfect card for my favorite student away at school.

In honor of the fact that the kiddos are back in school, I think we should put these stamps on sale. They've been discounted to a price too crazy to mention. (You do the math. It's academic.)

Stamping In The Garden

Hope you had a great holiday yesterday!

I spent the day just how I like to when I have the time - in the garden and with rubber stamps! It's a great way for me to spend a vacation day! The Big & Tall Unmounted Letters are 40% off until Monday, and I just happen to have this old crate that another family member was going to throw away, so I had to see how the Big & Tall Letters would look stamped on my old crate.

I loaded up a foam brush with black acrylic paint, dabbed the paint on the letters, and started stamping on the wood.

Thinking this would be a great gift with flowers or herbs planted inside! I could have stamped a last name, a favorite inspiring word, a street address, the kind of flower or herb that is planted in the crate, all kinds of fun options when you have every letter of the alphabet at your disposal!

Now that I have flowers planted inside the crate, do I keep it for myself or give as gift? Hmmmm.

Remember, rubber stamps aren't just for paper!

Musical Hope Chest

Friday Greetings from Kay here at Club Scrap!

Yesterday was Hopes Club Stamp shipping day, so those of you receiving the Club Stamp Project will have it soon! So let's talk about the project, if you don't mind. It's a handmade box that opens like a mini Hope Chest should. I don't think I've done a box lid like this before, so it's a slightly different construction than past box projects and easy to put together! I love that! However, the really fun part of it all is that it's a Musical Hope Chest.

Inside the box, there is room for a 3-1/2" square mini album or card.

There will also be paperless kit available, too. I love that option. I made this one below with the Spring Chorus Club Stamp text weight printed paper and painted the provided hardware with white acrylic paint for a different look.

Tag, You're It Again!

I hope Ron doesn't mind me stealing the title of his post from yesterday, but it's perfect for today's post, too! In honor of Club Scrap's One Day Only Tag Sale today (which includes diecuts and cutaparts and other fun stuff that make our pages and projects better) I stitched a few Matrix Blue Data Tags together to create this little mini album.

I started by scoring the tag that would serve as the outside cover.

Then trimmed five tags for inside pages....

...and pierced holes for stitching.

Just a basic pamphlet stitch using a needle and waxed linen worked well.

The closure for this mini album was a snap! I ran more waxed linen thread though the tag hole, then wrapped it around a button which was also attached with waxed linen.

After a little rubber stamping and embellishing, this tag album is all ready for a few wallet sized snapshots.

Hopes Mash-Up

Happy Friday, Bloggers!

While checking out the fun Hopes Mash-Up sale in the Gotta Have More Dept, I couldn't help but take advantage of those papers that coordinate with this month's Hopes Collection. I grabbed some Equestrian and Full Circle Papers and started cutting 2" squares to fill this 8.5x11" layout.

I used 2x2" squares and one 1/4" strip to fill the entire 8.5x11 base. (20 squares total) Adding a 1/4" strip in the gap makes for nice anchor /title strip/border on the page. Pretty easy.

This Mash-Up makes a great background for my dining out pics.

The June Sneak Peek Continues!

Wouldn't a stitched mini album with cool canvas board covers be a great June Project for the Club Scrap Hopes Kit?!?!  YES!  I thought so, too!

Since the instructions are already written and going into the Hopes Scrap Rap (live on Monday), I just happen to have a few snapshots of the project handy to show you ahead of time.
