Big Deal Valentine

Good Wednesday Morning everyone!

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. After seeing this idea on Pinterest, I knew it would be a cool technique for making cards with my Big Deal stamp sets.

Here's how I did it:
Step 1. Stamp the large heart image from the Collection UM sheet onto a piece of copy paper.

Step 2. Cut out the image to use as a mask. Apply a small amount of adhesive to the back of the heart shape and rub it on your clothing to remove some of the tackiness.

Step 3. Use a dot stamp or a flat pencil eraser to stamp dots, darkest to lightest, from the edge of the heart outward. Create the second and third generation dots by stamping off some of the ink onto the mask itself.

Step 4. Move the mask and repeat the steps above, shifting the angle of the hearts as you go.

Step 5. Use the mask to trace hearts onto patterned paper (I printed a sheet from the Big Deal Digital kit onto matte photo paper). Cut out heart shapes, and ink edges with CS® Hybrid Earth ink.

Step 6. Attach hearts to front of card. Stamp the sentiment, also from the Collection UM sheet, directly onto the card base (also made using printed paper from the digital kit).

Bonus:
Do you like my little charms? I created them using the heart, club, and diamond stamps from the Borders and Backgrounds UM stamp sheet.

Here's how:
Step 1. Stamp the shapes onto shrink plastic using colors of your choice. After the ink dries, fussy cut the images, being careful not to cut too close to the narrow areas. (Of course, I learned this tip from experience, and after several tries, I have a brown club with my red heart and diamond.)

Step 2. Use a hat pin to make a hole in your charms before applying your heat tool to shrink.
*Note: The tail broke off the spade so I had to substitute with the club.
Step 3. Use the hat pin to hold down the charm as you apply heat with a heat gun.

Step 4. Use jump rings to attach to a heart on your card.

Before I let you go . . . we are in the middle of recruitment week of our first-ever Assembly Line Boot Camp, and folks are anxious to learn how to use the Link Up tool from InLinkz. So today I am adding that link so that you can practice sharing your Club Scrap artwork.

If you need help, check out the InLinkz tutorial video HERE.

I would love to see you give this new technique a try and share it using the blue "add your link" button below!

Gearing Up for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is right around the corner!

In preparation, I've pulled out my Love Blooms and Love Bites stamps to help create this Valentine Luminary. By the way, if you don't already have these stamps, you'll LOVE the price they are right now!

Love Blooms

Valentine Luminary:

Decorating the luminary was really the final touch. Here's what happened before the rubber stamping began . . .

1. Cut cardstock to 6x12" and score at 2-3/4, 5-1/2, 8-1/4, 11".

2. Add stencil shapes to the scored paper so they overlap the first and third score lines.

3. Use a craft knife to cut along the edge of the stenciled shape that extends past the score line.

3. Stamp and mist to decorate. Fold on score lines and round corners, if desired. Use adhesive or glue to attach the 1" tab, creating an open rectangle. Place luminary over battery-operated votive. Hit the lights. Instant romance. :)

The luminary will fold flat for easy storage after Valentine's Day. Make one for the next season!

While in the Valentine decorating spirit, I gave these Clock Tower projects a little extra "love" to use as a love shack Valentine gift. I'll let the pictures do the talkin'!

Love is in the air.

Can you believe Valentine's Day is just around the corner? Need some incentive to get started on your Valentines? We have two stamp sheets that are perfect for your cards, and as luck would have it, they're 50% off through Monday!

The 2013 Love Bites UM sheet features a fun, flirty, and dare I say, snarky take on Valentine's Day.

Here are some fun cards using the Love Bites UM. To view more cards, and Tricia's original blog post, click HERE.

The 2012 Love Blooms stamps are a more traditional way to express your love. I've always really liked the "faux postage" feel of the artwork, too!

Here are a couple of cards featuring these lovely stamps:

I hope this inspires you to get creative. Now I gotta go get started on MY Valentines! Happy Saturday!

Creatively yours,
Karen
