Faux Landscape Technique

I was inspired to create a layered landscape for my super-cool Trees stamp, but I didn't want my card base to get super-heavy with lots of paper layers.

Instead, I devised a pretty easy way to create a highly dimensional look that utilizes the texture of the Light Green paper in our Trees collection.

You'll need the following supplies:

• 4x5.25" Light Green Panel
• 4x5.25" Dark Green Panel
• Scrap Paper
• Cutting Mat and Craft Knife
• CS Ink Applicator
• CS Earth, India Black and Ash Inks
• Black Oil Pastel
• Cloth or Paper Towel

Stencil Technique with Gesso, Ink and Gelato!

The warehouse was buzzing yesterday with the latest Club Scrap Lite kit heading out the door, and inside those sweet little pizza boxes is another fabulous stencil.

When putting together the ALSB pages for the month, I thought it would be splendid to add some of the fern images to the Dark Blue paper, but figured I'd have to find a way to make the ink pop. Enter: Gesso. It's the gesso we made together in the "Creative Concoctions Workshop" at the 2012 Retreat. Fun stuff!

Honestly, I'm a little wiped out from writing LOTS of instructions lately, so I'm going to take the more visual route to expand upon the technique article included in the latest edition of the Scrap Rap Magazine (see page 11). Kay and I snuck back into the studio again with the camera and let 'er go.

Monochromatic Overlay Stencil Technique

Wow, how's that for a totally knock-your-socks-off, gripping, attention-getting blog title? Well, folks, it is what it is. I'll break it down.

Monochromatic: I used one ink color. Club Scrap's® pretty Ocean.

Overlay Stencil: I'm featuring the Orient Express Overlay stencil. It has three parts, requiring you to move the stencil three times in order to produce layers of varying color or intensity.

Technique: It's not hard to do this, but I guess you could say that it's a technique. You need a little bit of practice, a CS® ink applicator, ink, and this totally rockin' overlay stencil.

I figure this would be a great time to break 'er down with this video. After viewing, I'm guessing you'll want to pick up a stencil or two, cuz it's stencil week at Club Scrap! (Read: All stencils on sale! Yay!)
